I prefer Nasty Girl over In my House but I like In my House over Sex Shooter.


MJGs were clearly more talented but Nasty Girl was the cut. Sex Shooter was trying to be Nasty Girl....

I think the song that you should bring up (and others already have) is "All Night Long"...That song is still the shit (Rick's bassline is so smooth that it's ridiculous...) That said, "Nasty Girl" is a tough song to follow...The percussion track is groundbreaking...

You know back in the day, there was a local Video show on Friday nights (a pre-cusor to Friday Night Videos) hosted by Carlos De Jesus from WKTU and later by Debbie "Angie" organ and Darnell "Jesse" wiliams from All My Chidren.


Anyway, the MJGs were on and Carlos was like "where are you all from"? and Cherie said "East Brunswick New Jersey" and my brother and I fell off the couch, cuz that is where we lived!!!

Look @ Klymaxx , A Taste Of Honey , The Temptations ... even the big reunite of MFSB caused a formation of a rival group containing ex-musicians .

I heard the 12' of In My House over the weekend, and thats where my vote goes. THe section where its just drum and bass, and then the keys come in and out of the mix was killin me! Nasty Girl is the truth too. Dont get me wrong, but Rick nailed it w/that one.

Slave has a few camps .
Mark " The Hansolor " Adams performed with his own formation sometime ago .
Now you have quite a half-official group on www.slavefamilyoffunk.com .
And Mark "Drac" Hicks is releasing recordings and a live-dvd with "his" own Slave on www.thefunkstore.com .
Then there was the Slave Hall Of Fame ( mentioned above ) with ex-Slave warrior & Aurra-producer/musician Steve "The Fearless Leader" Washington .

Seems that business or ego might be the case

Even George Johnson had his own Brothers Johnson band & site for a while .
( I still have a print-out of it )
George & Louis is a continuous war ... a friend of mine spoke to him last August on a soulfest . George's name couldn't be mentioned .

IMO , MJG's "Boys" is even rawer than "In My House" , it nails "in My House" funkwise by miles .

It's too bad that in V6 their "If A Girl Answers , Don't Hang Up" is mainly talking ... in the end there's some chorus .
But that track was meant for the fun ... nevertheless , it's music is nastay raw uplifting grinding funk .

That sounds like "New York Hot Tracks". If that's the show you're referring to, that show was national. We even got it down here in hick ass Mississippi.
