i probably have a bunch of rare stuff that i don't know about. one that i do know is rare, though, is the beatles "please please me" record in stereo released on parlophone records in 1963.

i forget how much it goes for, i just remember being very surprised last time i checked.

nobody'd give a crap about my most valued rarity, but i have an anthology of a band called tragic mulatto called "italians fall down and look up your dress".

the band's lead singer was named flatula lee roth, and she was a very big girl who could scream like nobody's business, plus she also played lead tuba in the band. when i was in a band in college, we opened for them once and we had to play with a police escort, because tragic mulatto had a reputation for either having sex onstage during their show or bum rushing the stage and sexually assaulting their opening acts. lol

anyway. their music was really fun but you could only get their stuff on vinyl or cassette, and i have the only official CD of their best songs, and it's a super duper rare import, mainly because they didn't have enough fans to warrant a lot of copies, i'm sure. lol

but i love it!

I believe this was only a dutch pressing...when I came across it YEARS ago at the local shop, the cashier guy (who I knew ummmm intimately) freaked out. He couldn't believe he hadn't seen the vinyl come in as he had been looking for this record. Lucky at that time I was digging Mr Record Store Man so I visited daily and flipped thru the vinyl lol

I have tons of vinyl albums, 12 Inches, and 45s that are out of print. I don't know how rare they are though.

Probably the rarest thing I have is a 12 Inch UK import I have of "Little Red Corvette". It's a very slick lightweight cover that has the gray "negative" picture of Prince's head. Side A is "Little Red Corvette" and Side B is "Automatic" and "International Lover". I had the record store to specially order it for me back in the day when I couldn't find the 12 Inch remix of "Little Red Corvette". When I got it home, I was pissed because all the versions were album versions. It's in excellent condition because I very rarely played it because I already had the album.

I was on eil.com a few years ago and saw they were selling it for $150. I hurried up and covered the damn thing with plastic to preserve it even more. lol

I have Led Zeppelin 4 on Purple Vinyl. I bought it from a yard sale about 15 years ago for 50pence. I didn't even know it was purple vinyl til i took it home. Its worth about $100 so its not mega rare. Also have Ramones Too Tough To Die on Vinyl signed by all four members. Whats cool is that it's signed by Ritche Ramone who was only there for two albums.

Hmmmm....that's hard to tell. Back in the day, I only bought albums by people I knew were going to have lots of good tracks on the album such as Prince, Rick James, The Barkays, Cameo, Zapp, Midnight Star, Lakeside, etc. Other than that, I bought 45s and lots of 12 Inches....unless there was a non-single by an artist that I just had to have. I wasn't going to waste my money on an album full of dull ballads with only one fast song, when I could have bought four or five 45s with my money or two 12 Inches. lol

Every weekend, my grandmother would either let me buy three 45s (they were on sale 3 for $5) or a 12 Inch for $4.99. A new Prince or Rick James album was just automatic, she let me get those the day of their release. Albums were $7.99 and on special occassions I got albums, or if I begged for one hard enough. She also bought me albums to bribe me from going to the fair or places she didn't want to take me to. lol

Over the years though, I probably have accumulated as many CDs as vinyl. In those years in the 1990s when I didn't have a turntable, I bought a lot of CDs that I already had on vinyl.

It took me years and lots of $$$, but I'm happy. As for non-Paisley Park CDs, I have a pretty good pirate of Vanity 6. I tried several times to find an authentic copy, but there are so many fakes floating around (especially on ebay), I think I've given up on that one.
