A Fire Inside Should I check this band out? To be honest i've been out of it with metal for a long time but I still loves me some Marilyn Manson. I like Miss Murder by AFI and think they have an interesting sound. Atleast they don't seem to be "winge rock" like bands like Good Charlotte. Skool me on them yo! Help a sista out.

I don't think metal is an accurate way to describe AFI's sound. They have definitely evolved past their punk roots to more of a mainstream dark rock sound not unlike Nine Inch Nails' last album. If you like that sound or Avenged Sevenfold's "Bat Country" single then you would like them. AFI's last two albums are very radio friendly with many anthemic sounding tracks. Their earlier recordings on Nitro are more typical contemporary punk.

what are your thoughts on their latest cd? i heard it has some new wave sounds on it as well which i dig! New wave? I don't quite hear that. They do use more keyboards and their sound is bit more electronic at times--almost industrial (hence the NIN comparison), but new wave, no.

All I know is that he's vegan. The entire band is vegan/vegetarian. If the tribute CD is the one on Cleopatra Records then I definitely own it. I got it for 99¢ on ebay. I think I overpaid. The only track that wasn't terrible was Dead Or Alive's cover of "Pop Life".
