Beyonce album sales fall after 'black' comments

Pop star Beyonce Knowles has sparked controversy by saying she only makes records for black people.

Since the Deja Vu singer made the astonishing statement sales of her new album, B'Day, have fallen by 70 per cent in the US.

Beyonce, 25, said in an interview with Blender magazine: "I make black records. I write records like I speak, and I don't try to change my songs so everyone else likes them."

The singer has also admitted she can relate to celebrities who attack the paparazzi.

Beyonce said: "It must be really scary to have your children in front of all these people. That's your kids. That's when Mama Knowles is gonna be punching some photographers!"

Meanwhile, Beyonce was booed at the MOBO awards in London on Wednesday night when she failed to turn up to collect her three prizes.

The Crazy In Love singer received the most awards after her single Deja Vu won the Best Song and Best Video categories and she was named Best International Female at the ceremony - which recognises music of black origin.

lol True. And really? She said, "I make black records. I write records like I speak, and I don't try to change my songs so everyone else likes them." Is that so bad? Firstly, I don't see anything wrong with stating what her audience is. Secondly, would enough people get angered over it not to buy the album? We're assuming the average Beyonce fan reads the paper.

I like it, i didnt really post a review because it seemed everyone had a view of it already, I like how its not like the first album, its harder edged, i dont like the Jay z input but thats gonna be. Some songs very similar to Ameries last album, basically because the same producer was on the same tracks. All in all a good album.

Beyonce got booed at the Mobos because she decided that it was ok to turn up for an Armani fashion do in London, where she wasn't being honoured, but couldn't be bothered to turn up to a high profile British music award where she won in three categories, two days before. She's got her priorities straight: thank you, but fuck you. Way to go. lol

Yeah, Justin's album is predicted to suffer a 70% decline this week as well.

Um... controversial to whom? falloff This is ridiculous.

Even if they got what she said letter perfect and in the proper context, she said absolutely nothing wrong. People need to get over themselves.

And I also attribute her drop in sales to initial overhype and anticipation tapering off. Let her drop a hot single or remix, and everyone will be immediately back in her pocket.

...And some photographers do need to catch a few knuckles and 2x4s, IMO.
