Can someone please give a description of this album? I saw it as an import and it's a bit pricey but i'm interested. How many uptempo jams are there? The only song I know is "Missing you". Love the album cover by the way!

Personally, i think this is her weakest 80s albums, however, there are some decent tracks.

Missing you: Of course, you know this one

Touch by touch: Another single, this is typically 80s, in a good way... It kinda reminds me of some of the songs Donna Summer recorded in the 80s

Rescue me: An uptempo, "80s-sounding" cover of the 60s hit.

It`s your move: Nothing special...

Swept away: This was also released as a single, it`s an uptempo track, but a bad one

Telephone: This was released as a single, i don`t understand why, it`s not a good song, but i know some orgers like it...

Nobody makes me crazy like you do: DATED!

All of you: A duet with Julio Iglesias, this is a nice ballad, but nothing more.

We are the children of the world: DATED!

Forever young: The second ballad, i forgot about it right after i listened to the album, that`s not good

SO, unless you`re a fanatic, like me, do not spend your money on this cd...
Get the japanese version of "Red hot rhythm and blues" instead, it`s a much better album.

"Swept Away" is a great song. I wouldn't know about the album though. I always stuck to her 45s that I liked and never bought any of the albums except for "Diana". I was afraid they would have too many boring ballads. I think if there had been some real jams on the album, the radio would have played them because radio was known for playing non-single tracks in the 1980s if they were jams.

There`s a song called "Summertime", which is a beautiful song, one of the things she recorded in the 80s. There`s also several "guilty pleasures", including "Selfish one", "Cross my heart", "There goes my baby" and "It`s hard for me to say" You should get the japanese version, cause that includes her cover of the 60s hit "Mr. Lee", a fun feel-good song.

Red Hot Rhythm And Blues (Ross: 1987) (3 out of 5 stars)

A well-crafted but unremarkable pop record, carefully produced by Tom Dowd (Luther Vandross produced his "It's Hard For Me To Say"). The tunes are by a whole host of writers, including Leonard Cohen ("Summertime"), and Simply Red's Mick Hucknall, and they range from danceable pop ("Shockwaves," the relatively racy "Dirty Looks") to ballads ("Cross My Heart"). Ross is in fine voice throughout, although she does overreach on "Stranger In Paradise" (not the standard she'd sung on I Hear A Symphony). Ross also covers the 50s Lieber/Stoller chestnut "There Goes My Baby," which is fine but unnecessary. Unlikely to be anyone's favorite or least favorite Ross album.

When I saw the video "Pieces of Ice", that's when I knew for sure that Diana Ross wore wigs. There's no way in hell she could have gotten all that hair underneath that onion skin headpiece.

I just know the single. (Which I Like.) I'm not sure about the whole CD since I haven't heard all of it.

I just checked itunes and they have a RCA compilation but not the Swept Away CD. Usually you can preview the CD to see if you like it.

still love the song, but for nostalgia, not quality. same for the "swept away" album, altho the single is great!!!

true, but back in the day, there was such a thing as good publicity and bad publicity. it wasn't like today where just being on tv is all that matters. the coverage was about people being injured and that it was a bad call for her to try it again the second day with the same weather forecast. there were reports that she tried to get Michael Jackson to show up for day two. it was supposed to be a fundraiser to build put a new playground inside Central Park, or something like that. it was drama!!!

but again, i fucken LOVED it!!! glad i saw both days televised!
