The tape was in a black Ampex tape box, which Jimi had
written "BG*" on. The make of the cassette was an Entronic
C90 which looked like Jimi had used over and over again in
the past. I couldn't help thinking of all the material that
Jimi had probably recorded onto this tape in the past that
had been over recorded time and again.

On the A side of the cassette, Jimi had written "Idea for
L.P. Side 1 suite...Black Gold" and on the B side of the
cassette was written "Cont. from side A."

Rowdy

I've never come across all of the actual songs from this tape anywhere, although a number of the songs are available in different forms on some official releases and elsewhere.

Drifting, Stepping Stone and Astro Man are available on First Rays of the New Rising Sun.

There is a vocal-less track called 'Midnight' on South Saturn Delta, and I wonder if this is somehow connected to 'Captain Midnight'?

And of course Machine Gun is available on the Live at the Fillmore East and Wild Blue Angel - Live from the Isle of Wight CDs.

There is a boot out there that purports to be 'The Jungle is Waiting', and one called 'Astro Man Jam', which might well be the Astro Man Parts I&II mentioned on here.

Kinda similar to "BGZ", huh? But uh, yeah, I've read about this before. Would love to own it. Almost as much as I would love to own Hendrix and Arthur Lee's collab.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."
