Remakes Check these out. Do you agree? And list some of your least favorite cover songs.
By: Delores Shante, St. Louis American August 08, 2002 As I listen to the radio, I hear some songs that folks had the nerve to redo. Some songs are classics and shouldn't be touched. Here's some songs that folks shouldn't have even attempted. Original - "The Beautiful Ones" Prince The Kill - Mariah Carey's version Original - "Thin Line Between Love & Hate" The Persuaders The Kill - H-Town's version Original - "Lady Marmalade" LaBelle The Kill - Pink, Mya, Lil Kim, and Christina Aguilera's version Original - "Straight from the Heart" Con Funk Shun The Kill - Public Announcement's version (I see why R. Kelly left this group) Original - "How Come You Don't Call Me" Prince The Kill - Alicia Keys' version If you think that I left out any, please hit me up on the email at Dshante@stlamerican.com St Louis American 2002

I gotta disagree on Alicia Keyes How Come U don't call me. I love her version of Prince's song and I love Prince's version of Betcha By Golly Wow. He does sing that song Beautifully. It brings Tears to my eyes. It's so good.

Say the truth, when I first heard Mariah Carey's I was into Prince as much as now and I thought it was cool. Now that I've listened to Prince's over and over, his sounds so fresh and clean compared to their's.
I like Mary J's 'Sweet thang', but she sure doesn't sing it like Chaka Khan. I also really liked H-town's version, whatever happened to that group. But then again, I'm just starting to get into some 'old school' classics. I didn't grow up listening to alot of popular R&B back in the day, so I'm playing catch up. Now, one person who tried to kill it (But didn't, the song is too great) Ginuwine, with his version of "When doves cry". Now what was he doing when he thought of remaking a classic, a song like no other, made by no other, than Prince???

I also happen to like Alicia Keyes' remake of "How Come You Don't Call Me."
My nominee for the WORST ever remake: The Original: Nothing Compares 2 U - Prince The Kill: Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O'Conner - NOOO!!! *runs screaming from thread*

The worst Prince cover has to be "Kiss" because Tom Jones arguably gained more acclaim and many see the song as his original now.
