Prince - SexyBack

Got Justins CD today and just as I had read lots of P flavor along with that kind of bravado as well

SexyBack is just a killer lead single....know the clubs are hopping with that cut.

I wonder if P did SexyBack just like Justins version if radio would pick it up...I doubt it.

In any case I know there a bunch of hard a$$es on this board that hate when artists are compared to Price but man listening to Justin's CD was a lot of fun and very refreshing given the trash and garbage that is out these days

Easily the best RB/POP/Dance record this year...good for him!

I agree. I wondered many times while listening to it whether or not certain songs would work if Prince did them instead of JT. Probably not. It's a name/image thing mostly. Too bad for Princey.

When is this CD released? I'm buying it for sure.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

If Prince did Sexyback it would be a hit. Just not as big. It's the age difference.

Timberlake's first CD was hot so you know he was going to follow it up with something sizzling. Justin is young and he's going to get the airplay as with Prince he's a mature artist in his twilight years, though still great. We have to face it that Prince is older and ever since he exposed the record companies as thieves, his true fans like us are the only ones that will keep his legacy alive.

Absolutely 500% true!Re:Prince JTs' marketabilty and Princes War on the Album Co 's. U could probably put George Michael in the same boat as Prince since he went 2 war with them 2 and hasn't had a successful album since.

Timbaland is a Prince fan, I never heard of JT say he looked up to Prince. With that said, his new tracks are nice.

The third song on the album "Sexy Ladies(Let Me Talk To You)" samples a little bit of "Sexy Dancer" by Prince. Also, Justin is definitely doing falsetto Prince in the song "Damn Girl". smile

And I can guarentee that if Justin T had released Black Sweat it most definately would have been a hit - without a doubt nod

last month in an interview 2 MTV the VJ said : "I was listening 2 ur new cd with some friends and after listening 2 the first 4 songs one word came 2 our minds: Prince." And he asked if P was an influence 2 him and he said "definitly!"..and also said that that was a compliment...and he knows that there's no one in the music bizz like Prince, that he's unique!

I said this in a previous thread I did, but I'll say it again. I don't like this new Timberlake album as much as the last one.

The whole thing is a nice dance/pop record, but it feels contrived and forced compared to "Justified". Justin is just trying to hard to be the tortured sex panther and he just comes off as a poser. Justin's white breadness really stands out when he tries on Prince's old clothes. The album is too polished and too slick--way more so than the last.

Again, it's a good pop album, but this album should have been his "thriller" and it just isn't. It's a disappointment compared to the last album.
"New Power slide...."

Justin's CD is nice only becuase he is copying Prince's style time after time on this CD which is cool to hear.

Hell he even brings out the Linn drums for one track

However, there is no real orginailty on this CD.

Best original song is Goes Around where he taps into his own style (kinda)

Also, agree if Justin released Black Sweat it would be #1

Why is this in this forum? Didn't this guy leave Janet dangling in the wind during the whole SuperBowl incident? Will not be listening to this cd. And I love Timberland but NOOOOO!!!
