60's Music

Does anybody like 60's music? I was very young when most of it came out, but I enjoy listening to it. The music back then was so nostalgic and simple and fun to listen to. It was made during a time before computers, sampling, and many other recording techniques were even invented.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Hell yeah. It makes up a huge chunk of my daily listening. nod I wouldn't necessarily say it was all "simple" though. The 60s was THE time when music was getting deeper, more experimental, and changing the world and the way music was made from then on. nod

The most powerful rock and roll comes out of the 60's and early 70's in my opinion. An expression of the times. Meaning, it was political and cultural lifeblood, not simply a musical pastime.

The sixties were certainly the time when I would say the characteristics I love in music were at their most prevalent. This was the best era for melody, harmonies and proper song construction, and it was also probably the last time that the greatest pop music was also the most popular.

Haha, it's weird because Prince is pretty much the only NON sixties artist I do like. I have a very unhealthy obsession with the Sixties. My favorites artists are Love, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, CSNY, the Beatles, the Stones, Hair (soundtrack, it's my favorite movie!) Arlo Guthrie, Otis Redding, Country Joe & the Fish, Five Day Week Straw People, The Attack, Donovan... I could go on forever.

Not to mention all the legends of the sixties, this decade comprises a very large chunk of my collection:

Cream
Beatles
Stones
Queen
Doors
Hendrix
Marvin Gaye
Sly
Pink Floyd
The Band
Bob Dylan
FRANK ZAPPA
Funkadelic
Smokey Robinson
Stevie Wonder
The Who

Man, could go on forever. And while some of these guys aren't best known for their work in the 60s, they still started to come out in that decade. Immaculate decade, when artists had something to say and creativity wasn't frowned upon for being too difficult to sell.

My all-time favorite era for music would be 60s and 70s, propably from '67 to maybe '75 or something. I mean, look at tA's list (thanks, man!)...1967 changed the face of pop music forever. Jimi, The Beatles with songs like Strawberry Fields, James with Cold Sweat... excited

I was born in '72, and I identify readily with 70's music. But music from the 60's & before has a mystical quality because & can't exactly relate to those times I didn't live through.

And the 60's gave me the Beatles, for which I'm eternally grateful

I like ALL of the Motown songs from the 60's. Other then that, I don't like too much of the music of that time period.

And I'll give it to them. What I should've said was that I like all of that great Soul Music from that period. (Forgive me. For some reason it just seems that all black artists from back then were signed to MOTOWN) I also love Jimmy Hendrix and Janis Joplin. I wish that I had all their recordings. But I'm just not a huge Stones or Beatles fan. It's just me.

Does anybody like 60's music? I was very young when most of it came out, but I enjoy listening to it. The music back then was so nostalgic and simple and fun to listen to. It was made during a time before computers, sampling, and many other recording techniques were even invented.

Are U kidding? Of course! I grew up on that sh!t! In our home, it was mostly Motown, Atlantic/Stax & Polydor. My father had a lot of jazzLPs too(mostly artists from BlueNote, Verve & Capitol). I loved me some Lou Rawls.
