No love for Queen Latifah, I see.
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

So where does Missy Elliott rate on your list?

I love Missy, but I wouldn't consider her much of a rapper. If you're looking for a rapper/singer, Lauryn Hill is better skilled in both aspects.

IMO, Lauryn Hill is going to lose to Missy Elliott on the aspect that her career is essentially two albums (one as a member of The Fugees and her only solo project) made in the neighborhood of a decade ago. Also, Missy is going to get some points for being an in-demand producer.

If you consider all that, sure (although I can't tell if you're dissing her first and last albums or you just forgot them). I interpreted it as rapping only.

You're right, it's rapping only. I have a hard time lauding someone's career achievements when that career consists of mostly two bodies of work (especially if it doesn't deal with a premature death or the like) vs. the peers, who stayed in the game longer.

I am in absolutely no position to claim to know who the greatest is, though.

Foxy Brown is actually very skilled...her media persona overshadows that fact, but she can rhyhme with the best of them...she has to be in top 5. The girl spits fire....she can even freestyle, she uses the sex image to sell records.
