MJ versus Madonna

Madonna is in Prague right now (the capital of my country) where she´s got 2 concerts. You can´t escape her these days, she´s in all papers. And I came across an article in which they mentioned MJ implying that he is the untouchable superstar who won´t let the ordinary people near. I personally have not followed Madonna´s carrer to be able to say whose more accessible. I can only compare their visits to Prague.

Michael´s concert was exactly ten years ago (7.9.1996). He came about 5 days before the show.
On the airport, several hundreds fans, who won some competitions, got to greet him on the airport where he spent about 15 minutes collecting presents from them. In front of his hotel hundreds of fans waited for him and he greeted them from the roof window of his van and eventually he even waved to them from the roof of the hotel.

Madonna arrived at the aiport where only few journalists had access, went straight to hotel without showing to the fans at all.

Michael´s program was quite known to the public. He spend first 3 days outside. He visited several shops in the centre, Prague´s castel, where he met with former president Havel, children´s hospital and orphanage bringing tons of toys to the children. He was followed by his fans everywhere. The last two days he withdrew and concentrated on rehearsing for his show.

Madonna hasn´t showed in the public at all. She only talked to former president Havel backstage after the show.

Tickets for Michael cost about from 600 to 2000 Crowns, the concert was outside visited by 150 000 people. Ticket´s for Madonna cost from 3500 to 5000 Crowns, the show was inside. She gave two concerts visited by 30 000 people altogether.

Guessing from this, I would have to say that it is Michael who is more accesible and I don´t understand why he is the one viewed as the "untouchable superstar", but as I said I have not followed Madonna´s visits, so I don´t know what was the case in other places. What are your experiences with those two megastars? Who would you say is more accessible?

BTW Madonna´s concert got really bad reviews over here, but i personally have not seen the show to judge.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

so, i totally walked out when she was play-faking guitar playing but i really gotta know, why the hell is she stradling that guitar as if she is playing a solo? wasnt she simply playing accompanying acoustic?

I like Michael Jackson's music such as "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" and also the work he's done with his brothers, much more than I like Madonna's. Madonna has done some great songs such as "Vogue", "Music", and almost the whole "Erotica" album but she's also done some stuff that has bored the hell out of me. Well, Michael has on the last few albums also.

Michael has many more songs I like more than Madonna but I like Madonna as a person more because she has been an outrageous whore and I love whores. Michael, as a person, has been all the things I don't like....nice, sweet, and family friendly. The hanging out with little boys really turns me off. Whether he's guilty or innocent it doesn't matter, the fact that he hangs out with them in the first place turns me off.

I needed a great laugh. She's a great entertainer as it is. Why make yourself look foolish by pantomiming?

It's easier to be more accessable when you look like everyone else. Old Madge rides her bike around London and walks around without make-up on.

With Michael, last year I heard someone describe him like Elvis Presley. He reached a certain level when it just became him and he had to be almost kept behind gates, That was back when Jay Leno was testifying at the trial - the other quote was, "but Jay Leno is not Michael Jackson, not even on a good day!".

Forget fame, records sold or even talent, Prince is closer to MJ than Madonna.

PS. I dont think Prince has the mega-star status that MJ and Madge have in order to visit a country like Prague sad

Even though, this has nothing to do with my topic, I agree with you on most parts, although I DO love MJ as a person as well. I like Madonna as a person very much, it´s just that I am sometimes not sure if she´s genuine or if it´s all part of a show. As for their music, somehow everybody´s music has gone down. Even Prince new albums are not what they used to be.

Well, I quite wanted to go to the show, but not for that money (I would pay that for Mike or Prince, cause those two I love, but not for her) If the concert was normal price, I would have gone, but I am afraid I´d be dissapointed, because half of the show was made of the new stuff, which I don´t like at all. The "show" itself would not have made it for me. But I sure would enjoy the 80´s classics.

As for the accessibility, the only thing that Madonna is definately more accesible in are interviews for the press, but I am not sure meeting and greeting fans.

Question for Madonna fans: I saw a document about her where there appeared her children as well and I wanted to ask where did Lourdes learn French so well. And BTW Rocco is a little destroyer - but very cute. lol

I don't know. The only thing I can say is that I believe him everytime when he says: 'I love you more!' I think he really loves his fans.

Madonna would be more accessable.

She goes to parties, to parks, rides around the town on her bike, goes to resturants, and goes to public gyms.

When she's on tour she's working. That's her philosphy she's on the job and needs to minimize anything that would risk her to not not be able to do her job. More people probably went to see Mike because his tickets were cheaper and were in larger venues.

Apples and oranges if you are comparing the number of people at the shows.
You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna
