Great song That bassline. AMAZING song. How could you hear this and NOT dance? "You could say I'm a terminal case/You could burn up my clothes/Smash up my ride...well, maybe not the ride"

I could just listen to it on loop for the rest of my time and never get tired of it. It's seriously contagious. I think, along with the incredible, yet subtle, bassline that rumbles on, it is Sly's vocal delivery that kills me. So effortless, yet so goddamn sharp, damning and intense. All under three minutes, too. If anything, that's the only downside.

As much as my "favorites" tend to change thru the years, I do actually have ONE "favorite" song. It has remained constant for well over a decade now.
"Then She Did" by Jane's Addiciton is simply the most moving, gorgeous piece of work EVER in my book. It has been and seemingly always will be my "favorite."

I think Dave Navarro said it was the Janes' song he was the most proud of. With its very personnal lyrics from Perry and its daring music, this is a deeply emotional mourning song that moved me the way no other one did. I don't know if i'd say it's my favorite song ever but it definitely holds a special place in my book. Almost sounds like a near death experience to me. Too bad they didn't play it when they came to Paris in 2003. [Edited 9/9/06 8:18am]

Beyond the quality of the song, I think it just came out at such an important time in my life the nostalgia has firmly rooted it in my soul. I wish they would've played it for you! I was lucky enough to hear it at the Ritual shows. THe lollapalooza performance was by far the best. But something about that songs lends itself well to playing live, outside, to a field of 20,000.

'Three Days' and then 'Then She Did' are an unbeatable, near 20-minute combination. Together they make Ritual one of the best rock albums ever, IMO.

Honestly, I can't pick one favorite. It's almost like asking which is your "favorite child". "Then She Did" by Jane's Addiciton is simply the most moving, gorgeous piece of work EVER in my book. It has been and seemingly always will be my "favorite." It is an awesome song. I always loved it, but then I realized that the opening guitar is a lot like Zeppelin's "What Is and What Should Never Be". For years it bugged me that I couldn't place what the beginning of "The She Did" reminded me of, and I finally figured it out. They both have that same lazy, jazzy feel to it. My current favorite song and a song that's been my favorite for a long time now is Stevie Wonder's "Living For The City". What a powerful, thought-provoking epic of a funk workout. It's perfection, I tell you.
For what it's worth, my original favorite song was P's full-length "Computer Blue". That, too, kicks ass.
