he would have been 60 already? wow eek

his death and the death of the *real* Queen are still a major loss for music imo
they were one of the best groups out there and it's so sad to see that the band,
without Freddy, kinda withered into a parody of itself. i'm sure Freddy would've
hated that.

i'm gonna play one of their old albums now woot!
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Freddie Mercury.... just the name is magic really.... Queen's music was a big part of my childhood, although I didn't "discover" it really until after Freddie's death.... He truly was a one of a kind performer, and his voice is one of the greatest ever in popular music.... If anyone's interested in his music outside of Queen, there's a new solo compilation released this week, "The Very Best of Freddie Mercury Solo", and I think it comes with a DVD of his videos and a documentary on his life.... I actually bought the video collection separately on DVD a few years ago when I was a HUGE Queen fan.... I highly recommend getting some of his solo stuff, if only for stuff like "Barcelona" which is probably the most Queen-like stuff he did outside of the band.... One fact about Freddie that might be interesting for people on this forum: Freddie was a Prince fan. I read in one of the biographies out there (I think it's the one that Peter "Phoebe" Freestone, Freddie's personal assistant, wrote) that Freddie used to watch the Birthday Parade concert ALOT and that he loved to watch certain parts of the performance OVER and OVER again, to the point that it annoyed "Phoebe" lol ..... This fact actually convinced me to buy my first Prince CD, however my Prince fandom soon took its toll on my interest in Queen.... Oh, and that Queen+ Paul Rodgers collaboration didn't help either evillol

Anywho, tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time (pun intended), and listen to some Queen stuff cool

RIP Freddie rose

I think I'm gonna get that cd. I'd love to hear There Must Be More To Life Than This. I heard Michael Jackson's version. Is his any better/different? Also I love Made in Heaven. Every time I watch my Queen DVDs, I wish he was still alive to see what else they would have done. They went out on a bang with Innuendo.

oh, I couldn't stand this guy!!!!! His posing & stuff.....barf I remember hearing the news when he died on the radio at 10 am, we were sitting in the faculty of university and decided to open up a bottle of good wine..... I know, tasteless (not the wine though lol).....but we were young and foolish and felt the need to celebrate.

Queen, like i.e. Genisis, took rock into the wrong direction.....too pompous and theatrical, over the top.....didn't like it, still don't! Thank God there came Nirvana in '91!!!!!

Queen was cool with me until Hot Space... but with The Works, Ga Ga shlock and everything afterwards they lost me big time... only very few memorable tracks from that era stick to my mind.. okay, I admit.. none confused

still some great songwriting by Freddie makes them stand out amongst the rest and one of the few rock bands I can actually listen to

Nirvana?! hahaha good one puh-leeze, cut that crap razz

If you were a true Nirvana fan, you'd know that Kurt Cobain aspired to be as great as Freddie Mercury. Other than his wife and daughter, Freddie was the only other person named in Kurt Cobain's suicide note...

For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins, it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love - relish in the the love and adoration from the crowd - which is something I totally admire and envy.

Justin, for me it's about the music, not so much about the person.....It really doesn't interest me if he admired FM. Nirvana in '91 was a breathe of fresh air making all bullshit rock-acts of the 80's totally unnecessary.

so much from a true Nirvana-fan.....thanks
