The 70's to me was the greatest decade for music. It started out with soaring innovating funk and soul fulfilling SOUL music and it ended with high energy disco(pissing off a lot of music listeners in the process). But there was a lot of great music in 1979. As a matter of fact, there was many songs that came out of this one decade alone that has been sampled or have served as a source of inspiration for a lot of musicians The 70's went out with a tick tick BANG!!!

***Knock Of Wood-Ami Stewart...Ami gives this old soul classic song the brillant disco treatment.

***Ring My Bell-Anita Ward...This song had a monopoly on radio stations in 1979 on pop and R&B stations. You could not get away from this song... "BONG BONG"

Ok, I got the ball rolling on this thread. BTW these three songs share one thing in common. They were all certified number #1 songs on Billboard's pop singles chart in 1979.

Some of my favorite stuff is from this period. Although I don't know much about the disco from this era, several of my favorite albums are from this year-

Joy Division- Unknown Pleasures (possibly the greatest debut in history)

The Cure- Boys Don't Cry (a strong beginning)

Bowie- Lodger (I love this album, despite its somewhat bad rap)

Blondie- Eat to the Beat (hit their new wave peak and set out to create the last disco song w/ "Atomic")

Post-punk was hitting its stride at this time and I really get off on that sound. I live for it.
