She was supposed to play next weekend.

True. However, for someone of her caliber, $20 is a bit on the low side. Maybe she know she could not command an audience with a pricier ticket.

I saw John Mayer before he got famous for $10 at the 9:30 Club.

Why am I not surprised? Dawn Robinson's career is marked by an inability to stay the course on anything (re: her leaving En Vogue and Lucy Pearl for a solo career that never materialized).
THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

Oh, it materialized. It just fizzled as fast as it started.

I know, but considering that was the reason Dawn Robinson left En Vogue in the mid-1990s and Lucy Pearl not that long after its 2000 debut that was a long time to wait for a solo album no remembered coming out.
