i have seen:
ryan adams solo acoustic (great!)
t-bone burnett
joe jackson trio
elvis costello w/ allen toussaint (twice, once in portland and once in atlanta)

kind of a slow year for me so far, but this has been avery busy, transitional year for me, with a lot going on.

Where was Chaka @ PurpleCharm?

are you going to the Jazz Festival this weekend in the "D"?

She was at Chene Park, which isn't a large venue. There were many empty seats.

I didn't know that the Jazz Festival was this weekend, but now that I know, I might have to check it out. nod

EVERYONE, INCLUDING MYSELF, WAS IN THE PARKING LOT COOKING, SMOKING, AND DRINKING! lol

Here's what I've seen this year:

Annie: March 26- Washington DC: Great show! I was invited backstage by Annie and we talked for about an hour! woot!

Sigur Ros: May 11- Detroit: Beautiful show! I got to go when my brother invited me after another friend couldn't make it. I consider myself a fan after having seen this show.

Prince: May 27- Las Vegas: This show was incredibly memorable as I watched with my bro, Hobbitch and babynoz. We had an absolute blast of a time!

Prince: May 28- Las Vegas: This show provided my most amazing concert experience, bar none: I got on stage to sing "Peach" during the rehearsal! There's a huge thread about it in Prince: Music and More from around the time with a full review of the weekend's festivities.

Annie: June 10- Sydney: A day after arriving in Sydney, I got to see my first concert ever with Tracy. It proved to be another great show, my 4th time seeing Annie, who is rapidly becoming one of my favorite all time artists.

Upcoming:

Tracy and I are going to see Kylie Minogue 4 times in November/December in Sydney! woot!

I admit I may have gone a little overboard this year. giggle

But I love watching people play and perform live. Particularly women if you hadn't noticed.

And this is the first year I've actually gone through the trouble of reviewing them all (on myspace). Because there are some shows from way back in the day of which I have no recollection. I'm not gonna let that happen anymore.

Hey, I live in New York City. lol

And I'm still upset about the shows I wasn't able to go see. This month alone I missed out on Rancid and the last Sleater-Kinney NYC performance ever. (Both sold out before I got a ticket) pout

That's not a common route to fandom for me. Usually I become a fan and THEN see the artist live.

Inspiring list! I've heard that Rasputina now has a male band member ~ I'd love to see them and Diamanda is at the top of mt list ~ hopefully next time she comes around. Did you have a favourite from this list?

hmmm

I just saw she's coming to the Ave now!

hmmm

the tough part is it's a weeknight (meaning LATE night show). And the crazy is charging $24. Which may be hard to cough up cos I've seen her twice at free shows in MPLS. But, if I find comps I'll be there in a second. yupyup
