My guilty pleasure song of the day: Toto - 'Africa'

I know this one is cheesy as hell, but still.. when you're hanging with your friends and enjoying a few drinks.... (OK, maybe not few lol ) blasting this song and singing along .... it's just FUN! biggrin I think almost everyone of my generation remembers this song being played a lot on the radio when they
were kids.... So I present to the Org my guilty pleasure song of the day:

That song was cool, but the real jam from them (besides the obvious 'Georgy Porgy') was '99'.

Love all three of those, but "Rosanna" will always be my favorite. music

that "serengeti" line irritates the fuck out of me because it doesnt fit into the meter of the verse at all and the guy sort of rushes it

i hated toto with a passion already ("hold the line" is truly one of the worst songs ever) but a recent quote from steve lukather just increased my hatred to boiling point. he said something like "music journalists hate anything that has technical skill because they're all failed musicians. they're jealous they can't play like us."....what a douchebag

Steve Lukather doesn't mince words...Love his playing and I dug Toto. Back in the day when I was growin' up, a lot of people thought "Georgy Porgy" was sung by a group of black guys. Cheryl Lynn was the icing on the funky cake. Toto was versatile, to say the least.

I like a few Toto songs...

"Georgie Porgie" (1978)
"Hold The Line" (1978)
"Rosanna" (1982)

music their uptempo songs are cool, but their ballads are bland

lol in all fairness though...the critics were downright CRUEL to Toto in their heyday. They never got the props they deserved, which is probably why Steve is so bitter.

That line totally cracks me up, I listen out for it whenever the song is on the radio. Twice as many syllables as the melody can really fit in.
