Christina's new album is predicted (based on one day sales) to move 320k, does that mean she will move 15O K COPIES or 340k and billboard will count as 680 k when they release their charts?

I think they are figuring half that many...In other words, 160 sets. Then again, who knows...

I think they are praying for 320,000, they actually need that kind of number. 160,000 would be a disaster and considering the Prmo $$ they laid out they need to sell 2+ million just to break even.

Wow this pisses me off. Back in 2005, Rick Springfield released his CD, Shock Denial Anger Acceptance" and for the first 8-10 weeks the CD sold between 4500 and 5000 units a week and never charted, in fact Billboard wrote about how it was the most consistent seller missing the charts, if it were now the CD would be holding in the 150 range for 2-3 months, which would give Rick one of the longest Chart spans ever having first charted an album in 1972. Its funny because this record sold over 100,000 overall and never charted.

Its amazing the number of so called big hit albums that only sell a few hundred thousand like Pharell, and a meagre 480,000 albums by Prince (didnt even get gold) and others by obscure artists that sell only a few thousands and then there are those by recognised artists that flop majorly like the gin blossoms.

Yet shit like Mariah Carey sell 5.6 million. Where is the justice?
17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Yeah but in this day and age, I don't see anybody selling 2 million in America anymore...Very rarely. Then again, maybe it's just because of lack of really popular releases...Could things pick up that much over the next few months?

It's a shitty year for CDs sales. Listen, who cares if the album charts or not. I guess those are good numbers considering.

No its over and done with, get ready folks because what will happen is the bands that are barely hanging on to a label are gonna get dropped becuase of this, so if u like an act thats on a label and they sell under 100,000 expect them to be gone. To me i love this because it means the end of labels, charts, and all of that crap, and maybe music and talent will make a comeback.

SoulAlive

People sure don't buy music like they used to,and it's not hard to see why.So much crap out there! Nowadays, artists are lucky if they even reach platinum status.

Los Lonely Boys have an excellent new CD,but it's not doing very well at all mad

Id have to give a Jay a solid B overall hes doing a good job, i think he messed up on dropped DMX, gotta give him props for signing the Roots.

I wonder how Nas's album will be, that will be another test for DefJam

Is that even a good album? I read bad reviews and didn't anything I've heard on it. VH1 reaired some special about him and talked about his first CD and played some stuff off that...Actually sounds better. The ninties were a very good time for R&B. Excellent mix of style, substance and talent.

I don't remember Nas' last album (a double album) really setting the charts on fire, did it?
