The collection also features an unreleased, alternate version of "Rock Steady" recorded in 1970 by Aretha Franklin. One of three versions recorded during the session, Franklin is backed by her red-hot studio and touring band, King Curtis and The Kingpins. With a final section that slows to a stop before disappearing in reverb, the version included here differs significantly from the previously available versions.

If I get it myself before xmas and then get again on xmas, that just means that someone will receive it as a gift after xmas. wink

I think the operative term is "Rare Grooves". JB cuts are fairly easy to find.
The selections they've included by artists like Howard Tate - 8 Days On The Road, very few folks have ever even heard of.

I've done posts on Howard Tate in the past and basically get...eek (deer in the headlights mode) wink

I haven't heard most of those songs. At least I don't think I have. I may check out one of the discs if they sell them seperately. If I like it, I'll check out the rest.

It will be the first time in years that I won't be buying a compilation to get one or two songs that I don't have on a disc full of duplicates of songs I already have. lol

The "Phat Trax" series is the best ever. It's a great selection and the songs are album and 12 Inch versions. I have all seven volumes and long for more.

They need to continue it endlessly like they did with that "Have A Nice Day: Sounds of The 70s" series. They probably have about 87 volumes of it. lol
