Notwithstanding the fact that SV fell off after Dilla left, and assuming your question is directed at current hip-hop outfits, and not all-time (PLEASE tell me you didn't intend it that way) . . . De La Soul. Gang Starr. The Roots. Madvillain. DangerDoom. Gnarls Barkley. Little Brother. Peace. [Edited 8/7/06 14:22pm] Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

The groove was so strong, and the whole vibe of the performance...just so cool. Of the groups you mentioned above, i`ve only seen concerts by the first three. The Roots i`ve seen countless times since 1995. Okay, they are something else...sick! But i liked SV´s gig way more than a few gigs i saw by De la - although i still buy their albums, and i happen to even like the new stuff. At one point, that was after i saw Tribe called Quest, i thought i will never ever see a hip hop concert again, cuz it can only get worse. That was just too good to be true. That was shortly before the band broke up. Ah! Memories. Have a nice day, dude +++ Love...thy will b done

I don't like the reconstituted SV, but I'll of course take your word for it. Of the groups you mentioned above, i`ve only seen concerts by the first three. The Roots i`ve seen countless times since 1995. Okay, they are something else...sick! That was shortly before the band broke up. Ah! Memories. Have a nice day, dude +++ It's hard to put on a good hip-hop show. I consider De La to be the greatest hip-hop outfit in history, considering i) production; ii) lyrical content and flow; iii) number of albums; iv) creativity and of course v) longevity. But I wouldn't doubt SV puts on a better show. ATCQ put on one of the best shows I've ever seen, by anyone, period. peace and positivity. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Good looking out, NP Yeah, he was part of that whole Soulquarians thing , along with D'angelo, Common, Badu, Questlove, Q-tip--Dilla actually came up with ideas and samples for all of their records, and was definitely a big influence on their sound... .... I can co-sign this. Even when ?uest was drumming, he was drumming like how Dilla programmed drums on his Slum Village stuff. Dilla brought the soul clap back. Harlepolis, he produced "Didn't Cha Know" by Erykah Badu on Mama's Gun so I know you've heard his work. J Dilla/Jay Dee Discography
