In fact, I think they're a pretty good band. I just finished listening to A Rush Of Blood To The Head in mp3 form and these guys (or Chris Martin, whichever) can write some quality pop songs. The lyrics are always fairly decent and the production elegant. For what it's worth, I thought the title track was easily the album's centerpiece.

I like them as well. If nothing else, I think they manage to pick great first singles. "Shiver" and "In My Place" are my favorite songs on their first two albums.

Seriously, I am surprised they are so overwhelmed with their fame that they decided to take a "break." Do you think it is likely they will return as a band in a few years or do you suppose we should expect Mr. Gweneth's solo effort in stores in 2007? Any bets?

Coldplay are a good band, but if u want to hear the orignators of that sound then listen to a-ha, basically anything a-ha has done since 1990 has been amazing, and they are the reason for bands like Coldplay and Keane and Snowpatrol and have influenced Radiohead and U2, a-ha's late 2005 record "Analogue" was easily the years best CD.

But anyway, I actually wouldn't mind listening to Coldplay. I like that one recent song I hear on my radio in bed at night.
The name, or even the chorus escapes me, but it has that nice repeating guitar riff that kinda sounds like.... "Duh-nee-nah, neer-nah, dun-nuh-ner-nurrh."

...music is hard. : (

Coldplay isn't bad, but they're not particularly good, either. They're music for tryhard yuppies with no musical taste that think they're deep because they buy their music at Starbucks. Boring and pretentious.

I don't claim to be the epitome of musical taste by any means, but at least I don't like friggin' Coldplay.
