D"Angelo Fresh Out of Rehab and Ready To Comaback! To The Lab From Rehab
D'Angelo is ready for his close-up -- again. The neo-soul crooner who put many in a tizzy --by simulating a sex act in his music video for the song 'Untitled' (How Does It Feel) -- is staging a comeback. 'BV Newswire' has learned that the Virginia native, legally known as Michael Eugene Archer, is fresh from a stint at the Antigua outpost of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre, where he was drying out from substance abuse. And he's ready for business. Angie Stone's "baby's daddy" is in The Big Apple this week collaborating on new tracks with Common and Q-Tip, respectively, for their forthcoming album projects. The 32-year-old 'Devil's Pie' singer also took meetings with Virgin Records urban music honcho Jermaine Dupri to explore ways to re-ignite his once thriving career. Veteran music executive Gary Harris (with whom he created magic with 1994’s groundbreaking 'Brown Sugar') is said to be working closely with the two-time Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter. High powered music industry titan Irving Azoff (Christina Aguilera, Lenny Kravitz, Seal) is also in the mix. The news of D'Angelo's return to music should be welcome balm to his legion of fans (who helped propel his two studio albums 'Brown Sugar' and 'Voodoo' to platinum sales). His most recent buzz includes run-ins with the law for a 2005 traffic violation and a 2002 charge for assault and resisting arrest. http://blackvoices.aol.co...5609990001

Good news. I'm concerned about Jermaine Dupri's involvement in this but any way that we can get D'Angelo back on the scene, I know I'll be very happy about it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Um I think you're mistaken. The only Dilla I know associated with D, just passed away on Feb.10. James"J Dilla" Yancey. The best hip hop producer of the last 10-15 years. I hope D is on his way back, but hopefully only working with Jermaine Dupri in an advisor or label capacity. I've never known Dupri to be known as Dilla. Release Yourself

Dilla is one of the producers D'Angelo was working with while creating his latest album. in fact i remember reading back in 2005 is that one of the reasons Erykah wasn't working on her album is that she was waiting for JAYDEE AKA DILLA to finish working on D's album. Um you know there's been 7 years since Eugene's last effort, right?

That's my question, also! My last pleasant memory was of him butt naked in that video with an "Oh my God" body! Seeing him with a big ass gut would sooooo ruin the fantasy! Not hating on the plus size folks but sexiness is what launched his career and it's the only thing that'll get him back afloat.

That's the long and short of it. And it's sad. The brother could drop the next Talking Book on us but a lot of folks couldn't get past the weight issue. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Wait a minute!
Wasn't he done with his new long-awaited album. Didn't ?uestlove said that he finished up 12 tracks and had a meeting with the label to let 'em hear it? Am I missing something? Not that thrillied about JD's involvment.

Not that thrillied about JD's involvment. Co-sign the new project is gonna sound like a tale of TWO "JD's" Jay Dilla vs Jermaine Dupri. I already don't like the sound of this. If D'Angelo comes out "snappin' & crunkin' & Hyphin" it's over for me. "Who gon' clean up all deez Flowers" ----Eddie Murphy as mr. clarence

If Dupree is involved, I'm make sure that NOT a single person that I know buys this cd.

I agree with my main man Namepeace. I'm also not bothered by Dupri's reported involvement in D'Angelo's career - I don't think Jermaine Dupri is going to tell D'Angelo how to make music. But he did play a large part in resurrecting a few careers that were headed nowhere. He'll simply guide D'Angelo's marketing and promotional campaigns....at least I hope this is the case.

Word. Besides, I think D'Angelo is strong enough to protect the integrity of his music. If things get really bad, he can just eat JD. OK, I'm wrong for that. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
