The Pussycat Dolls SHOCKING Update

1. It's been reported that PCD leader Nicole Scherzinger has written 12 new songs (YES, 12!!!) for the next follow-up album with the group.

2. In July 2006, it was announced that Scherzinger is going solo, after she has fulfilled her immediate commitments to The Pussycat Dolls, and would not be a part of the Dolls' second album. Scherzinger was contracted only for PCD, the accompanying tour and promotional duties.

3. Beside Nicole, Melody Thornton is also planning to go solo. In mid-July 2006 Melody publically announced that she plans for a solo career using the group (The Pussycat Dolls) as a "stepping stone" and so eventually becoming a solo artist like Pop music superstars,Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Melody's powerful vocals have been compared to Christina Aguilera.

4. At the SXSW music conference in 2006, Interscope lawyer Darryl Franklin said, during a panel discussion, that the contract with the group is unique in that its members are actually salaried employees of the record label and, by design, completely interchangeable. This means that in addition to CD sales, the label also controls merchandise, web sites and all other commercial aspects of the group and their income, excluding song publishing.

The second PCD album isn't even out yet and ALREADY the group has lost 2 of the best singers in the group's history....so far.

It looks like Carmit Bachar is going to be the new leader of PCD.

1. This is not shocking in the least.

2. These two are the ONLY singers in the group's history (if I am to believe Melody actually sings and has a voice like Christina....and I don't believe it).

3. Carmit looks like a dude.

1. We ALL knew Nicole was going solo. It was only the matter of when.

2. BTW, did you know that Melody was intended to be the lead vocalist for PCD before Nicole join the group? Anyway, I love to see/hear for myself if she THAT great of a singer.

3. You CAN'T be serious!!! Maybe Carmit does look like her father here and there. But if she used to be a man, her doctor did a GREAT job on the sex-change!

Ok first of all, this is not a true story. There was a rumour going around a few months ago that Nicole was leaving or had left, NOT TRUE. Nicole has written alot of the tracks for the upcoming CD. The next CD will feature mor einput from Melody as a Vocalist and Carmit too. True the group is interchangable and most of them are using it as a stepping stone to something else, but as Nicole has said, a SOLO record is not what she is planning at this time. PCD has sold just about 2 million in states and 5+ million worldwide, the label and the girls are not stupid they are not letting that go yet, common sense. Though Nicole has already done some duet work with other artists like Avant, Will Smith, and Shaggy, she is not leaving the group, it would be a career suicide to do so. Alot of these rumours started and stemmed from their Blender and Esquire interviews, in which the girls talked about PCD being a stepping stone to other things, mainly Melody and Nicole, But also Nicole did add that PCD was something she was staying with. All in all the Label did not expect the CD to sell the way it did, to date 4 top 10's in the USA and 2 million in sales, worldwide almost 5 million and 4 chart topping singles. And a 6th single is planned to be released worldwide too. So this is once again ALL A RUMOUR that started a few months ago and once again is starting.

Also GIRLS ALOUD are a really good group, i will be posting soon about them.

Heres a better look of them

And by the way, when did PCD ever complain about being a POP group, everywhere they go they are just glad to be there, i have never heard them ever say they did enjoy what they do

Actually, the rumors started almost a year earlier when it was painfully obvious that Nicole was the main focus (musically) of PCD. And there is a handful of ORGers here that could see this too.

And judging by the history of girl groups over the years (especially En Vogue, TLC, The Spice Girls, & Destiny's Child), anything and everything involving PCD isn't going to always be a total surprise.

And BTW, thanks for the corrections.

Well the whole PCD concept has been around since 1995, the idea to do a CD came when the "Vegas" Pussycat dolls did a show with Gwen Stefani and interscope came down and said they should do a record but you guys need 1 or 2 singers. At this point all the girls were already in PCD as background dancers, CARMIT was the only vocalist but interscope did not want her to front the group. They went out and got Nicole, and then through some auditions they got Melody. Obviously the Solo rumours start because Nicole is singing lead, so from day one especially since its a girls group that stirred things up. It just seems when its a girls group the rumours fly so much quicker, i remember when Destinys Child came out, they had Beyonce going solo even before the first album came out. So i think with a girls group they all start out with that handicap of "when are they gonna break up". Since i do know Nicole for a long time, im glad she has gotten a vehicle that can showcase her singing, trust me she enjoys PCD and wants to stay, not that she wont do a solo album one day, but she loves PCD and will stay as long as UNI wants her, and if they let her go thats their bad call.

I also recall in some of the past reports that Interscope also ask Carmen Electra to stay in the group. She didn't like the financial stipulations that were required as a PCD members. Is this a true story?

The Carmen situation was weird because alot of people thought she created the idea, but she didnt, it was Robin Antin, who is in the "vegas" version of the Dolls. The only thing i did hear was that Carmen wasnt happy with not being a Vocalist in the group, interscope did not want a celebrity singer, and they didnt feel Carmen could carry a group that was going to do so many different styles of music, so there was kind of a "bitter" break with that. As far as the deal goes, i dont know $$ and things like that, but i do know Nicole gets really good money, its by no ways a "TLC" type deal, and from what Nicole has told its an exact opposite of the Edens Crush thing where she basically could not say a word, and the deal was a not good one at all. She was not allowed to write, or have any input, totally different from PCD.
