albums that AGE better than they debut...

question

I was one of those bitches who thought Maxwell came a little weak w/ Embrya. It was nice & I knew it but it just didn't HIT like Urban Hang Suite. So I put it on the shelf...

Then I'd start to think of a song (mostly "Submerge") & wanna hear it over the years...

I think I play that album more NOW than I ever did when it came out years & years ago. In my opinion that album has aged very well - still sounds pretty fresh to the ear, it's just chill. I think it had to do w/ my state of mind too - sometimes you just want something to shake yo ass up excited other times you just wanna be held touched lol

So, what's yours? What album has aged better than it debuted for you? biggrin

On another note, the past tense of "debut" is fucking WEIRD!! whofarted

hey...i was gonna create a thread like this earlier this week...but then realized folks no longer post on my threads...

lol

anyhoo.

my biggest hate/love would go to Sign o the Times...hated it upon my first listen and it took years for me to "get it".

other albums?

umm...Sweetback's Stage2

and thanks to Supa Deelite's Dewdrops...I hated that CD and was soo dissappointed in it till a year or so back Supa commented it was his fav Deelite of all time...So i re-visted it and feel in love and now consider it on par with the other three...

thats the reason i love the org, you discover and re-discover music all the time.

thumbs up!

I would have to say DJ Shadow's Entroducing. I simply wasn't ready for it.

I love this album. nod

And Calhoun gave a good example with Embrya. thumbs up! I didn't listen to it much when it first came out, but I really like it a lot more now.

tho' I battled blind
love is a fate resigned
memories mar my mind
love it is a fate resigned

Over futile odds
and laughed at by the Gods
and now the final frame
Love is a losing game
