Christina Aguleria and black radio...

For the life of me, please help me understand why black/urban radio doesn't support Christina Aguleria? I mean, urban radio stations play Mariah, Justin, Nelly Fertado, Gwen Stefani, but no Christina. I just don't get it? I mean, WTF?

Her new song "Aint no other Man" is awesome. When I first heard it...I was like, wow, thats some diff shit - it's like a throwback to an old school sound of R&B. Her delivery on that track is just flwless.

Is Christina the most talented underrated artist? What's your take guys? I know she sells units but something seems to be missing?....she should be bigger.

I think maybe its because her voice is so mature boisterious and perhaps she needs to hold back a little bit and dumb down her voice - I think Mariah has done that to some extent.

In other Christina related news.

An interesting audio of Mary J Blige's opinion of Christina.

LOL, does Mary J like anyone besides maybe her husband and Lil Kim.

I've only heard these songs on urban radio by Christina: "Beautiful", "Dirty", and "Genie in a Bottle" and the "old school Patti Labelle" one with Mia, Missy Elliot, and Lil' Kim -- but not the new one yet.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure what the urban stations are in your area, but the only CA songs I've heard on blk/urban radio is the rap with Lil Kim - Ladies Night. I usually have to tune in to the top 40/Pop stations to hear Christina...I guess my argument was that I shouldnt have to do that becasue blk radio should support her more...

Why should they, there are plenty of real "uban" artists that pop radio never give a chance. Leela James has simmilar sound to Xtina (albiet with better material and stronger voice) and when was the last time u heard her on the radio, Christina is not "underated" 'she's a multi million selling, grammy award winning tart'

She's on pop/top 40 radio stations because her label pays to have her there and its a much broader market than Urban radio.
Same old racist white dudes running sh*t. Its the simple mentality of why try to sell a white girl that sings like a black woman to a bunch black kids when you can sell her to a lot MORE white kids?
At first "Genie In A Bottle" was targeted at urban radio as a backup in case she was "too black" for the "mainstream" crowd. They did the same thing with Pink.
She can sing. If she had R&B producers she'd sell R&B records, provided she didn't go pop.
There is a general consensus in the black community. Black people (in general) tend not to support white people who appear to be imitating black culture to get famous. If a white chick sings like a church sista, black folks are far less fascinated than the mainstream simply because they have ALREADY HEARD IT BEFORE. Its not "special" just because its coming from a white girl. (Thus the lack of interest in Joss Stone in the black community) The only time the black community gets behind white artists is when they start out and STAY urban (Jon B, for example). I know a bunch of people are gonna disagree with me but I'm just telling the truth.
Her label markets her mainstream therefore black folks don't bother supporting her because its no secret that she'll get all the support she needs.

BlaqueKnight, you made some interesting points. Yet I believe the black community very much supported Mariah when she came out. Of course it could be because she is partly black (her father). However I wouldn't have called her the first to mainstream into urban radio. What about Lisa Lisa, Brenda K. Starr, Taylor Dayne, and Lisa Stansfield? These women surely got airplay big time and some with great success.

But, yes, I always did wonder about why Joss Stone wasn't pushed on urban radio because the girl can surely sing. whistle

Mary J, Mariah, Britney, & Pink all have the same problem with Christina:

Her ego is out of control & her bi-curiously (especially at Britney & Mary J) is too liberal. And she needs to knock it off before she ended up in a fist fight or something.

.....now back to the discussion on Christina's music:

Christina vocals are very soulful. She does have a black fanbase. And RCA Records needs to put her music in the black music market better. cool

I love Christina Aguilera's voice. But then I did always like loud boisterous singers. Unfortunately she is notorious for being bit of a brat . I have an ex that collaborated on a project from the Stripped cd, and at that time he absolutely HATED working with her because she was so rude. However, once she would get into the vocal booth she sang so extraordinarily, he practically cried and just let her attitude roll off his back & basically took the approach of , "f**k it, let her be a f***ing brat; this b*t*h is about to make me some money" lol lol lol

... and as much as I like to see Aguilera perform...I'm actually glad Mary J.Blige put her on shout. If a bitch put her hand out for me to kiss I would probably break a finger off...how did she think she would get away with trying to do some crazy mess like that...and to a sista??? From the projects??? Oh HELL NO. Like Mary said, you don't do that to anybody, let alone a black woman first thing in the morning when she's tired, she should be happy Mary didn't bite her damned hand off...silly assed child disbelief

Yeah , maybe .
But like Mary , her hubby & Kim , MousekaTeena ain't ghetto & never will be .

Hip Hop Soul diva Mary J Blige has vowed to NEVER record a song with pop diva Christina
Aguleria because she feels that she is "rude". Recalling their first meeting Mary said that upon
greeting each other Xtina extended her hand to Mary as though she wanted her to kiss it which
was taken as an extreme insult by Blige.

>>>>>

Mariah already reacted diplomatically on her nasty behaviour @ an uninvited party of Carey .
Ex-students walking away from the dancefloor whenever an X-T song hitted the the decks @ a reunion on her old school .

She has a hotdamn surface , but the innersource is straight fucked up .

Besides that , i've never been a huge fan of a particular part of singing in current R&B .
That when singers sing like they constantly have to prove that they can actually sing .
At least , that's my impression , mostly with uptempo songs .
I believe it's far more surprising to hit the high registers occasionally .
Now it seems like they're pulling open the barriers and constantly keep dropping all they can within their powers .
I said , mostly with the uptempo songs , but sometimes there are uptempo's that get me jiggy .
Amerie's former hit was one example . I don't know , in that song it seems just all right in the pocket .

Also X-T did a great ballad called Loving Me 4 Me , which i was almost gonna do with a covergroup which unfortunately disbanded :

http://mfile3.akamai.com/...obj=v40218

With that song , you get a very intimate & great side of X-T .
I know it's just an image-setup , but it's a damn pity that her acting in public is dirrty .
She obviously wanna be a badd byatch to reach the headlines , whatever it has to take .
Sure , goodluck gyrl & have a great journey .

Everytime I read stuff, its like ppl are doggin' Mariah and Mary for their attitudes towards her but it seems Christina is a bit full of herself. Interesting....

True , but X-T's fake handkiss-gesture disbelief
That buttkissin unfortunately still happens in the far oriental East , where the classes are strongly bordered .
I've seen a documentary about it . A Japanese executive director was filmed with his bowing employee , who acted like a parrot . Whener the director took a coffee-sip , the employee followed . Whenever the director laughed at a joke , the employee exactly copied .Just humiliating .

People forget sometimes how notoriously nasty and unfriendly Mary J. was when she first hit. Even she owns up to it. I'm not saying she's perfect; she'd still rather talk about herself than anyone else (or at least talk about herself in the third person to give the illusion of talking about somebody else). When Mary J. got her recording contract, she came from a broken home in the projects and a whole mess of addiction in her life. She didn't know any better. Christina knows better. She just chose to adopt this glamorous diva "dahling" persona far too early in the game.

To conclude that a lot of gungho-acting has been and still is a part of the game .

Indeed. I can see where Mary J.'s coming from. There's no pretense about her at all. The same cannot be said for Sra. Aguilera. She's got some good pipes. Too bad she'd rather showboat and bat her eyes and thighs at the camera.

Early you say.....

Christina is on album #6 (counting The Christmas album, her only Spanish album, AND a local album from her teen years). I think that plently of time for Christina to become a diva (Read: a total bytch!) by her own free will.
