The Great Adam Ant

What a tremendous innovator this guy was in the early eighties.
Maybe one day he will get his due.

With the heavy duty drums,..Burundi Beat sound he pioneered.
He sounded like nobody else.
Also his look and visuals.....You can definately see where and how Prince was STRONGLY influenced by him.
When Prince was still in his Dirty Mind, briefs and trench coat phase,...Adam was rockin the heavy makeup, and ruffled shirts, hair twists and sexy stares and pouts.

He was funny as hell too.

I also think he recorded the best non-hip hop/funky rap song ever!
Check it out.

I love Adam. I read somewhere he is publishing an autobiography soon. I don't know if it will be released here or just in the UK.
He has had a lot of psychological problems in recent years, and doesn't record or perform anymore. Very sad.

The Burundi Beat stuff really came around when the band went with Anabella in Bow Wow Wow. They were so damn good. Download at will!

Go Wild In the Country
See Jungle! (Jungle Boy)

Yeah Bow Wow was cool too,.. but Adam was in a totally different leauge as a performer and visionary.
Actually Adam really did it first....when he dropped his original band (except Marco),..they went on to form Bow Wow Wow with Anabella.
And they brought Adam's burundi rythms with them.
