Miss You Much - Janet Jackson

This song is what I miss about MUSIC. Not, look at my tits, look at my ass, (well thats fun sometimes), over promotional hype and unnecessary rap collaboration.

Just hardcore funk and KICK ASS MUSIC.

Don't yall miss that?????

I was just listening to it and forgot what a PERFECT song this is. You don't here a lot of it in mainstream music today. It's just samples and cool beats. I wish these young cats would get back to the instruments and challenge themselves in learning to arrange music.

I agree. There are basically no worthwhile producers left in mainstream music.

damn this is one of my fav's from Ms. Jackson...I love the intro, it reminds me of how it was when it came out in the early 90's nod This and the "pleasure principal" were always my favs from J.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

This song made me a fan of Janet. Rhythm Nation 1814 was the first album I followed all the way through from single to single. She became my first (and most notable) celebrity crush. I owe a great deal to her for getting me into music in the first place. touched

I used to gay it up to this video. I had all that chor-eo-graphy down. MTV didn't always play the "That's the end? NO!" part either. I got all kinda of excited when they did.

and yet Janet Jackson did, right???

the artist that most of yall love on this board allow the music to become like this, Madonna what talent does she have, she looks like Beetlejuice, she cant sing, and her dancing ability is okay at best. Janet Jackson looks like Michael Jackson with a donkey, and limited to none singing ability,

and all of yall just talking out your ass, about your musical ability, why don't you get in the industry and make a change instead of crying every fucking day about music, use your "musical knowledge" and make the Big change, sitting on your ass and crying about the music world 2day, won't change shit

i love that entire album but my favorite songs are State of the World, Rhythm Nation, and Come back to me! Those are the joints! That era (1989-90) does bring back memories with the New Jack culture etc
Damn what happened to that good music in 2006? sad

you can reminisce but stop looking through era's with your cristal bottles, because Janet isn't that talented and didn't create the music for her Lp's she did the samething, every artist does 2day

If it makes you feel better I'll give it up to Jimmy and Terry, however, that does not change the fact that Rhythmn Nation is superb and the music created from the trio stands out from what "every artist" are doing today. If you disagree, that cool, all I know is that I was blown away by that cd, and in today's music, I'm just like, okay that song is cute...whatever...forgotten.

I miss it with a vengence. I heard this song on the radio yesterday while I was at a hospital and it made me so happy and sad all at once. I love the song and the memories it brought back but sad that music has no kind of funk in it AT ALL. Plus Janet herself isn't as much fun and isn't even near as funky as she was in 89-90. I'm still with homegirl but I'm missing the Janet who made Control and Rhythm Nation. She needs to get out of bed and come back to us at once.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Indeed. Janet ain't what she once was. But then no one is. I don't think she's going to save contemporary music, but I can still listen to her stuff even if it's no Rhythm Nation, and so I'll take what I can get.

Black Cat, State Of The World , & Alright are 3 of the stand out tracks for me. Miss You Much is a fun song though. i think Janet Jackson's diction was the worst on that album though. lol

I've played this album so much in my life that I'd never have to listen to it again; I'll still know every note, every aside (I know every single "baby baby" in 'Alright'), could quote every single interlude verbatim (I swear to God that it's Kevin Arnold from the Wonder Years in 'TV' saying "It's so frustrating"), and would be able to spit off every single in order and their Billboard Hot 100 position lol .

I could care less if Janet was just a JJ/TL puppet because it doesn't change the fact that this music was (is) AMAZING and changed my young life.

It's almost bittersweet to listen to the album now because of all of the memories that it brings back; I remember arguing on the playground that 'Escapade' was a better song than 'We Didn't Start the Fire'. I remember putting a little school presentation together that somehow mixed together Huck Finn and 'Alright'. I remember my sister and I thinking the cat in the beginning of 'Black Cat' was the same cougar from the movie 'Who's that Girl'.

I also remember Janet when she seemed on the cusp of something fresh and exciting. For her past few albums, I've felt that she was stuck in cruise control, and I'm really hoping that this new record brings out a new side to Miss Jackson.
