The B-52's, "Rock Lobster"

cool dancing jig One of the greatest riff tunes in all of pop/new wave, IMO, and I'm talkin' about the full, six-minute version on the album, not the radio edit. Perfect for beach parties to this day.

Even Family Guy's Peter Griffin thinks so..

I love the B-52's, but this song never did it for me for some reason. I much prefer "52 Girls" or "Dance This Mess Around".

Add to the above tunes which I love "Give Me back My Man"

And Purplecharm , totally agree with Mesopatamia , the whole album totally rocks in a way which I think freaked the die hard fans at the time (well I had two chums who didn`t like it and I did !)

They get major bonus points from me just for using the word "narwhal" in a song. I doubt there are many other songs with "narwhal" in the lyrics. biggrin

Nope- it's a Nordic whale. They resemble belugas in shape and size, but many (the males?) have a big ass tusk protruding from the front.

Yes, that, 'Legal Tender', 'Party Out of Bounds', 'Deadbeat Club', and 'Ain't it a Shame' are all just as good as 'Rock Lobster' and 'Love Shack'. It's a shame that those are the only two B-52's songs that anyone remembers. Although, I'd rather people remember 'Rock Lobster' than 'Meet the Flinstones', I guess.

I love those songs as well, but Rock Lobster is really the bees knees.

Although, for some reason, this summer I've been all about their cover of Downtown. fun stuff.
