So did Karen. "The Way You Love Me," "Superwoman," and "Secret Rendezvous" were all top-10 pop hits while "Romantic" went all the way to #1. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Yes, I'm sure. Jody has 6 top-10 pop hits compared to Karyn's 4. Anyway, I agree that Jody Watley was more successful. I was just saying Karyn was also successful. In fact, on the R&B charts, Karyn had 4 #1s ("The Way You Love Me," "Superwoman," "Love Saw It," and "Romantic") while Jody only had 2 ("Looking for a New Love" and "Real Love"). and whos that fool that said "superwoman" is a poor man's whitney? please, even Patti Labelle, Gladys knight and Dionne Warwick couldn't pull it off let alone Whitney. and jody? umm shes aight!

I do miss that era though...Jody, Karyn, Pebbles, Regina Belle, Miki Howard...a little later CeCe Pension..... @ the typo Odd comparison. I don't understand the choice between the two. I liked Karyn, but she had a habit of singing through her nose. She was good, no doubt, but she was always a producer's pet. There was no independence to her sound. Jody was a very good entertainer, had more of an identity outside of her producer's sound, wrote or co-wrote most of her songs. In the end, they sounded like her songs, not her producers. Jody's videos are also classic. Karyn's were, uh, laughable. I used to think the video for Secret Rendezvous was hot shit, now it just makes me laugh! She's a clumsy ass dancer. I remember an MTV veejay telling Janet to watch out, because she was going to be the "new queen of dance!" http://www.youtube.com/wa...Cu-wAx4rxQ

I like them both. I really liked Karyn White singing "Love Saw It" with Babyface, and I think she was the better vocalist of the two, but overall I'd have to give the edge to Jody Watley. She could dance and she had more charisma and attitude.

I saw Jody's sister in a couple of "perfomances." I also know that she dated Kid Rock at one time. Seema like Kid Rock was heavily into porno chicks on his way to stardom.

I love how the chair magically falls over, but I think it may be a problem with the youtube link itself. 2:30 - walkin' like an Egyptian before dippin' low
Another classic moment! That dip is soooo 80s, girlfriend! 2:40 - I can't describe that hip, skip and jump

Not so fast She had many uptempo jams too,the best being "Secret Rendezvous" (1989),you remember that one? It won't stop,it don't stop a non-stop Secret Rendezvous Also, she had that big dance hit in 1986 (pre-LA and Babyface) "The Facts Of Love",a great uptempo song and let's not forget "The Way You Love Me".

Beyonce's dancing reminds me of how Karyn danced...they dance really hard, as if they are "throwin' down" but it's very clumsy and clunky.

I like them both. Karyn's 2nd cd "Ritual of Love" is a good cd and was poorly promoted by Warner Bros. "Romantic" is one of her best songs IMO and it did go #1 pop thanks to Jam & Lewis. However, Karyn had better chemistry with LA and Face.
Karyn was the better singer. Jody was the complete package. [Edited 7/7/06 5:49am]
