I've been there through the disco era, the old school Prince "known only on R&B radio" Prince era, also the "Prince vs. Rick James" feud, the huge "Purple Rain" crossover era, the artsy fartsy era, the Tony M. era, the Jehovah's Witness era....damn Prince has done a lot.

There are other specific artist/genre categories that could be added but you'd probably have a list a mile long. It was awesome, and I actually missed my flight back from NY because of him. (well, sort of) I wanted to start a thread about it, but then I just got too busy when I finally made it to Mpls. 
Anyway, we realized that the majority of his favorite artists are female, and the majority of mine are male.  And that the only thing we have in common (musically anyway) are Prince and glam rock.
