I won't question someone due to age. I honestly believe 50 Cent is the worst rapper ever. I had the misfortune of actually seeing him live once. Worst performance ever. Quite seriously, he seemed to have no soul. He just seemed to be some walking corpse/caricature of a glorified thug lifestyle.

50 will never be worthy of 2pac's mic. Quote me on this!!! lol

50 isn't worthy of anyone's mic, as far as I'm concerned!

Very true. You know what has practically dominated since the time they were old enough to listen to music so it's all they know.

I do applaud the younger ones that have explored beyond the radio and have much respect for them. If it weren't for the org, I wouldn't know younger people like this existed.

The internet makes the difference. cool

That`s so true nod
I can`t tell you how many artists and songs i`ve discovered through the internet, and especially on this this forum.

I've never liked her, and never will. Sure she has a voice, but it's all over the place (same goes for Christina Aguilera). If all I wanted to hear was someone doing runs for 4 minutes, I'd listen to the horny cat prowling on my fence at 3 AM. All her music sounds the same, going back even to DC3. There is no false advertising in Deja Vu - same old shit, but messier.

The only Beyonce song I really truly liked was Me Myself And I.

But the truly irritating thing about her is that she never goes away. Ever. This will backfire in the end. But until then, she has great promo and she will be a star, even though she wasn't even the best thing in DC3 (that would be Kelly). But she was the most marketable, I guess.

i guess she is pop culture being the most lighter skinned of her DC counterparts, and also weighing more with a bigger ass to shake all over the place. And it doesn't hurt to be the girlfriend of a rich rapper as well.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

On MTV, the black girl with the straight blonde weave/wig is always the one who gets the biggest promo push.

I can`t help but to think of her as "the new Diana Ross", there`s so many similarities...

That's a pretty apt comparison. And much like Diana, she'll fall out of favor soon enough and history will repeat itself (hopefully she won't self destruct, though). She'll probably have a pretty long and succesful career, though.

I think giving her credit for the $300 million in ticket sales for Austin Powers may be putting a bit much on it. That movie would have done that much no matter who played Foxy Cleopatra.

I agree. After all, the single, which was great, didn't set the world on fire. In fact, most people really hated the movie after they saw it, the reason why the DVD sell for about five dollars now (and I for one am very sorry I bought it).

They both started out early in a very successful girlgroup, where they stole the spotlight,
in Diana`s case, thanks to Berry Gordy, and Beyonce`s father.

Two girls in Destiny`s child had to leave the group, Florence Ballard was kicked out of The Supremes,
and just like Diana, Beyonce got the blame for it.

Both ladies are probably better known for their looks and clothes than their music.

I wouldn`t say that any of them have the best voice in music, but they still make/made very commercial music.
(although i like Ross` voice)

Diana got the part in "Lady sings the blues" soon after she left The Supremes,
Beyonce has starred in several movies after she started her solo career.

AND on top of all this, there`s DREAMGIRLS, where Beyonce plays a part based on Diana Ross in her years as a supreme...

hmmm

I think you have that one wrong. Diana was known for her voice, it was only later on was she known for her wild hair-dos and divaship.

She was VERY beautiful even back then, and many claim that she wasn`t the best singer in the group... (although i personally like her voice)

I enjoy Beyonce as an entertainer. I don't think her voice is great and she can't play any instruments, but she does know how to entertain. Her acting isn't great, but she's just starting out so maybe she will get better as the years go by. She doesn't come off like a bitch or a hardass. She seems quite down to earth, however I wish she would dump her boyfriend and find a real man! wink

I agree! That's one lovely lady right there. nod

And even though Diana didn't have spectacular pipes, I think she was the perfect lead singer for the Supremes because her voice was so sophisticated and full of character.. it was easily the most distinct out of all three girls.

I am SOOO tired of all these girls running around with blond hair. When I was young, and a sista was rocking some bottle blond Dark & Lovely...she was in the minority and it had an advante garde feel to it. Now it's as if you have to have blond hair to be part of the norm, even as a woman of color mad . The day I saw big ass Kimora Lee even trying to rock some blond hair I almost choked on my own saliva, it looked so ridiculous. The other day J.Lo's movie "Angel Eyes was on television" and even playing a character that I guess was supposed to be half Italian or something, she looked absolutely silly with that "Sun-In" strawberry blond hair...it was ATROCIOUS.

...I swear, seeing all these chicks running around with these golden manes is the main reason I won't lighten my own hair. Cover the gray, yes lol, but highlights, blond, or any of that...nope! I might pull a Phylicia Rashad in a few years and go with a brown, auburny thing, but blond eek ...

What's the difference between having blonde hair and wearing a long straight hair weave or wig, which is done by 99.9% of black women in entertainment?

Length doesen't bother me. It's not as if colored women haven't been able to grow out their own hair....and a lot of the lighter colors don't bother me. I've often found that as women grow a bit older, a few highlights or getting away from a severe dark color really lightens up the face and makes them look "refreshed" cool I have friends that have done the lemon juice in the summertime thing and the highlights they get look superb, becuase it looks more natural...but the bottle blond strawberry on up to platinum thing is killing me...it's simply passè to me because EVERYONE is doing it, and just not of my personal taste.

....although I will admit, I DO love seeing a platinum blond or silver white 'FRO on black women of a "certain age". That always looked sexy and dynamic to me cool...and when it's close cropped and they wear FABULOUS jewelry with it?!?!? Puh-leeeeze....!
