I loved them together-actually Angela was the most talented wink . I've seen Rene' lately on a couple of tunes by himself, but it can never compare to when they were together razz .

Kenny Lattimore and Chante Moore also covered "You Don't Have To Cry".

BTW, have you ever heard Angela's version of "I've Learned To Respect...."?

She tore it up! She originally wrote it for Stephanie Mills, who scored a #1 on the R&B singles chart, but Angela later covered it herself.

That's what I heard. She left in 1986 to start a solo career and he never had another hit without her.

You can hear her shouting Stephanie out @ the end of the song nod

Both per4med the song 2ghether on the Apollo when Stephanie used to open up for The Isley.

They both broke down @ the end of the song,,,it was the WORTHIEST moment of that whole night.

I've reports about him OPENLY beating her up in front of stagemen and in sound checks.

A recording mixer broke them up once when they got SO NASTY with each other. He would slap her if they went with her opinions over his.

Again, when I said that Rene was an ASSHOLE,,,,,I meant that shit.

Nope!

Do You Really Love Me is their debut single of their debut 1980 album(I think its self-title).

He was definitely a punk for beating on her. However;she was not exactly a saint. She lied about a song they recorded together originally that she stole and rerecorded with ronald isley called hello beloved. They went to court over it and she originally lied and said that her and rene never recorded the song together. Rene had radio play the original take her and angela recorded together and needless to say she was busted. It is ironic how ronald isley has dumped her for a younger SWEET AND SEXY THANG! lol

Funny detail is John Robinson's subtle drum-upbeat when the first verse starts . And those twirling drumsticks in the I'll Be Good video

Powerhouse ballad !
Magical harmonised vocals .

The back-sleeve of Wall To Wall had them posing on those cool portable Moogs

Nope!

Do You Really Love Me is their debut single of their debut 1980 album(I think its self-title).

And another written early-track was Burning Love , performed by Edmund Sylvers on his 1980 album .

That particular track and a few other from R & A's first album appeared 2 years later on the 1-album release of the group Plush , produced by Rene & Angela .

The group contained Siedah Garrett .
As said above , some tracks from R & A's debut-album are re-done here , but with a more synth-approach . Worth to check for R & A-fans .

In the same year R & A wrote/produced great work for Janet's debut-album .

I just discovered a CD re-issue of the album above , including the Wall To Wall album too .
Rise as opening-track sounds awesome with a firing Louis Johnson on slap-bass .
Some more fine tracks on there like Can't Give You Up and My First Love .

And finally , Secret Rendez Vous ( from the Wall To Wall-album ) is one of their other solid grooves . The rhythm in that track is imo unique and very infectious .
.
.
