Gorillaz- Demon Days I just saw a special where this entire album was performed live. I can't think of many albums with such innovation and feeling. This album is like a sonic blend of many horror movies- its images enduring and its messages both entertaining as a story and chillingly relevant.
I can honestly say that I like each song on this album more than any song I've heard of Blur's. In these demon days It's so cold inside so hard for a good soul to survive You can't even trust the air you breathe because mother earth wants us all to leave when lies become reality you numb yourself with drugs and t.v. lift yourself up it's a brand new day so turn yourself round don't burn yourself, turn yourself turn yourself around into the sun! i like gorillaz a lot, but there are a LOT of blur songs i like more than the stuff on 'demon days'. mr. beam, how many blur albums have you heard? have you heard the '13' album? 'parklife'? there's some truly inspired stuff going on. i'm gonna sick endorphin74 on you.
i think the special you saw is also available as a DVD...i'm wary of it because i'm not too thrilled with the hologram stuff they're doing now. i saw them on the last tour and i much preferred the old skool "yellow submarine" approach to the animation. but now i might at least have to netflix this concert!

I actually think that Damon Albarn is a genius - he just keepps getting better and better. I loved Blur's Think Tank album and jsut think that Gorillaz is really different too, different good, but different The Hottest chip of them all - www.hotchip.co.uk - Get down with Prince

i like damon albarn's "mali music" album, too. i think it's more of a musical scrapbook from a stay he had in mali than an traditional studio album, but it's really pleasant to listen to.

i hear ( i don't read linear notes anymore ) that dangermouse was responsible for some of the production on this album. i'm willing to bet that he did work on that one track All Alone. i love that shit!

I'll admit to not having heard much. I've got their 1997 album with "Song 2" on it and I've heard a few other singles. Needless to say, I like Demon Days a lot more. Where did you see the special? "Demon Days" is my fave too. It was broadcast on Australian MTV, but I think I saw ads for it on MTV in the US earlier this month. "Battle" is one of my favorite songs ever- dark, sexy, inviting yet scary, electronic yet squishy, lazy off key vocals... What's not to love?

I agree about the Blur comment. An awesome band. I just have to take this opportunity to post a pic of Damon and Jarvis together. Yep. I've aways thought that. Well, I didn't even know who Jude Law WAS until a couple of years ago, so Damon came first for me. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I like this a lot. Has anybody liked the latest stuff at all? The last thing I saw was a video that freaked me the hell out: it was of "Noodle" ( isn't that the 10 year old?) resting peacefully at a house minding his own business when an army comes and blows his home into bits...they're basically trying to take him and his little idyllic corner of the earth DOWN. It's freaky and sad watching everything blow up in flames around him.
