..lately i've been reading alot on the irish people,customs,the country..sinead o'conner..etc..im really intrigued with the weather..it seems wonderful but i digress..anyone recommend a good celtic-rock band(please not dropkick murphy)...or anyone good musican from ireland..much oblige..

If so, I'd recommend the Pogues. I'd recommend most of their albums but my favourites are 'If I should fall from grace with God' and 'Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash'. I'd avoid 'Waiting for Herb' and 'Pogue Mahone' - both were made after Shane McGowan was kicked out of the band (he's back with them now - they realised they were shite without him). In a similar vein are The Saw Doctors ( http://www.sawdoctors.com ), who are very popular with Irish people living overseas (particularly in the UK). I recommend their debut album 'If this is Rock and Roll, I want my old job back'.

If you like Sinéad O'Connor then I recommend her debut album 'The Lion and the Cobra' and 'I do not want what I haven't got', which features her definitive version of 'Nothing compares 2 U'. Website here : http://www.sinead-oconnor.com/

If you're interested in Irish rock from days gone by I recommend anything by Thin Lizzy ( http://www.thin-lizzy.net/ ) or Horselips ( http://www.horslips.com/ ).

In more recent times The Frames ( http://www.theframes.ie/ ) are one of my favourite Irish rock bands. Whipping Boy ( http://www.whippingboy.net/ ) aren't bad either.

Snow Patrol are one of Ireland's most recent rock bands, I don't think much of them myself but they're doing very well, so you might want to check them out - you can listen to some samples here : http://www.snowpatrol.com/band/

I have no idea what the Dropkick Murphy's sound like (never having heard of them until now, and being unable to find any samples on their website) but as they're a Boston band I'm guessing that they're a rock band with a bit of diddly-dee thrown in ? If that's the sort of music you're interested in then you won't find many native Irish bands playing it. Most Irish rock bands tend to stay away from the more traditional Irish sounding instruments and musical constructs, so if Celtic Rock, as I understand it, is what you're looking for, you're more likely to find it in countries other than Ireland.

There are tons more recommendations I could make, but I don't know what specifically you're interested in, and there's not much point in just listing every Irish band or artist I can name. As I grew up in and currently live in Ireland I have a relatively decent grasp of Irish music past and present, so if you want more recommendations or info just let me know, I'll be more than happy to provide any info I can.

BTW, Irish weather is shite. We had summer last week, just for one week, now it's raining again.
