Respect for live music Looking at the BET awards, I came to the sad realization that their is a whole generation of kids/young people seem to have no connection to live music.
I know the audience is a small sample to base my generalization off of, but what is bothersome is that during the Chaka tribute, most of the younger attendees)looked lost about how live music is/how it is performed. In a generation of keyboards, samples, and other tech advances, live music seems lost. Those pan shots by the camera (across the sudience) actually spoke volumes about where music was and where it is now. I would have given anything to see Prince & Stevie sharing the stage together. Musical giants of the last 30 years playing their heads off. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

I hate nothing more than when a posse of hanger-oners get on stage and scream their vocals/lyrics without a band. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

When i was a kid watching the grammys or the country music awards or whatever, most of the time i didnt know anything bout who was getting the lifetime achievement award..
So i have to agree with EW. I'd say that most of the younger crowd at the show probably didnt know who she was, which is sad but its the truth. Its not youre fathers oldsmobile..... The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.
