Her music can be okay. It's her voice that doesn't appeal to me. People judge without listening to the album...that sickens me! If it was some shit a rapper did, you all would be raving about!! Hardly! People are equally as harsh (if not moreso) on hip hop as they are on pop music here. http://www.prince.org/msg/8/193118 http://www.prince.org/msg/8/193013 http://www.prince.org/msg/8/193214 http://www.prince.org/msg/8/192376 Just a few examples.

I agree Even Prince is subject to criticism here!

I loathed Nelly Furtado when that hideous Bird song came out, and I despise her even worse now that she has suddenly, somehow, morphed into this J.Ho. wannabe.
Most annoying voice in pop music, in my humble opinion.

I wasn't judging the album or the song... We were just floored at how hard she was trying to be something she is so obviously not (ie, Beyonce, Gwen, Mariah, etc)

I find Alanis' voice to be more annoying. What's with those Canadians, eh? Seriously, I like Nelly's new album so I'm kinda glad I missed this.

But whatever she was doing on SNL was just dreadful. You know, she did have two really big hits in one year ("Turn Off the Lights" actually charted better than "I'm Like A Bird" and I think I heard it more often).

CinisterCee said: ROLLINGSTONE: So, some random questions: What do you think when you see yourself on TV after the fact?
Furtado: It's hard to watch. Supposedly, my greatest performance is when I worked with an aboriginal vocal group from Saskatchewan. And I did it on the Juno Awards in Canada, and I did a rendition of my song "Powerless" with them. It was like a big medley with all these extras carrying signs, and it was really cool. And I still haven't watched it because I don't want to ruin the vision of it in my mind. With SNL, maybe in a couple of weeks, maybe in a couple of months I'll have the courage to watch it. Because when you do watch yourself that's when you become better as a performer. I'm sure all the greats, especially like the Beyonces of the world, watch themselves to get that perfection going. I'm working with the same choreographer that she works with. This whole choreography thing is new to me. I always loved dancing but I was a little shy about it before. Now I'm just loving it. http://www.rollingstone.c...um_so_loud Ok....did she just call Beyonce one of the "greats"?? "Don't hate me cos I'm beautiful"

She's really good. Her voice is nasally but it's unique. She has feeling. You're voice doesn't have to be technically pristine to be good. Her world-beat/pop thing is refreshing. No one does it like her and that's what makes her special.
