Cheap Trick 'Rockford' believe the hype - it's probably the best rock record of the year, even though it's only going to sell 50,000 or whatever

i keep hearing good things about this album!

I'm glad somebody posted about this. I'm a CT fan from wayback and this is a great album. I'm not a fan of the band during the years 85-95. This album really is a return to form and I usually refrain from using that overused term. It's all the good things about CT in one album and could be placed right up there with first 5 albums. Good simple hook-laden power-pop rock tunes from the guys who kinda started the genre. Good stuff.
BTW, got mine at Walmart for $9.99 Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Excellent Record. On the sales tip, yeah it will probably only sell about 50,000 and of course that makes it a failure "by industry standards" but i think Cheap trick is at a point where its all about their base following, doing good solid records, and getting a bigger cut, which they do, since they own everything at this point. Yeah the Paul Simon record is really good too, check out the new Joan Jett and the Billy Joel "12 Gardens" cd, great records. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

got mine at target for $10 as well - they're always pretty sweet that way on the new releases
I'd call it Cheap Trick's best since Dream Police - and that was 1979! Long time coming joan jett/paul simon/billy joel: I've been waiting for all of these. Can't wait to hear them

Can't wait to hear them Though Billy has done Live CDs before, the set is worth it just to hear Billy doing some of his rarest songs Live "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

They sound amazingly fresh and the production is fantastic. They obviously spent a ton of time on songwriting this time around. And Robin Zander is the best, period. He sounds as good or better than he did back in '78

I like the album artwork I'm gonna have to hunt this down. I like what I've heard.

Anybody that is/was a fan of CT's first 5 albums will dig this new one. Great to see some love for CT around here. And the packaging is cool as well. Fantasy is reality in the world today. the packaging is pretty cool - I love the bright yellow - but I still wish we had pics of the band, not just these cute little caricatures... (sigh)
all of them still look pretty damn good though, I'll say that!

Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes and Pink fame co-wrote that song and I feel it's the weakest song on the album. So those who haven't heard the album and listen to that song, realize the whole album is much better than that song. IMO Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

I'll have to pick this one up. I was a little disappointed with Special One especially after the 1997 Cheap Trick album was good. I've read great reviews for this CD. Allmusic gave it 4.5/5

Im listening to this now. Its pretty good! O Claire is really Beatled-out. My favorite track so far. This Time you Got It sounds like Bowies Rebel Rebel. Its kinda cool too.
One More is heavy as hell! I may have to buy this. You can hear the whole album at clear channel music .com We all know clear channel is the , but hey, what are ya gonna do? Its free. [Edited 6/23/06 8:32am] [Edited 6/23/06 8:32am] A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

If It Takes a Lifetime was just featured on Little Steven's Underground Garage however and that should really be the next single. 'All those Years' is the next Voices, btw. Makes me wanna cry!

wow, i had no idea there were so many Cheap Trick fans around here, or that they garnered so much respect!

I've never been huge on Cheap Trick (I guess my generation knows them best for their memorable "Don't Be Cruel" cover but also the milktoast hit "Flame"). But I was curious about this album. Maybe I'll put it on my list....

Do that. It's not your fault but it is a shame that you and others of your generation define CT but that horrible era of theirs (1987-1993 or so). They are so much better than that. Pick up Heaven Tonight,In Color, Dream Police, All Shook Up and you'll see what all CT fans already know. How great and important they are. Their new album is great also as I'm sure you've read by now. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

absolutely, unlearn what you have learned... pick up Heaven Tonight and you'll get the big picture. I'd call it their very best and that's saying a lot! It 100% rocks with no suckage whatsoever.
I didn't get the debut record at first (1976?) but after time I found it to be awesomely powerful and cool as all hell. Very underrated, even amongst Trickheads

Yeah. it wasn't until years later that I got a bigger idea what Cheap Trick was about.

Cheap Trick fell into that trap that HEART fell into also, thank god both are out of it now, and doing their own thing once again "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
