Ani ... "To the Teeth"

A buddy of mine and I suspect Prince did uncredited session work on this disc. It just funks so HARD.

Any other albums of hers carry the same funky vibe?

The only song Prince participated in is "Providence". If you'd like to see more of the Funky side of Ani's music, check out her DVD called Render. Her and her band shine best on stage. Not to take anything away from the namesake of this site, Ani's been gettin funky long before she collaborated with Prince. She has, however been quoted saying "Prince sang the SHIT outta Providence." I agree!
as far as albums go, check out Dilate, Little Plastic Castle, Revelling/Reckoning, Evolve and Living In Clip. If you like those, get the rest of her stuff. New album called "Reprieve" coming out this August too!

That's right! Beautiful cut, and his vocals are top notch.

there are sounds fx in "The Arrival's Gate" that sound
like they were lifted straight off the 1992 symbol cd.

Ani is a superb as a musician and business person. Love most of her stuff.

To the teeth was an excellent album, the only song I don't like is to the teeth which came off better live on the so much shoutin set.

Not a person to miss live either.

Providence is great and Prince's vocals are similiar to the animal kingdom on the truth.

Good Stuffis.
Music is the best...

Doesn't Maceo play on it, too? Makes you wonder if Threadbare is right and Prince did some additional jamming.

I like this disc more than a lot of her other stuff. She always crafts good music, but it's not terribly melodic or catchy. To The Teeth is both of those things, but without pandering.

I don't hear any funk in "To the teeth" but I just have the song. Gotta check out the disc, thx.

Just a beautiful song writer/artist who can convey a deep and meaningful vibe. I love her Living in Clip disc from beginning to end. She means what she does and I'm feelin it.
