BEYONCE vs JANET

An online debate is raging about the 2 new tracks from BEYONCE & JANET. So here's our chance to voice our ORG opinion.

My vote goes to JANET, for the simple fact that there is a melody and it is way to lure a new younger fan base.. in addition to guranteed airplay w/ nelly on the track.

Now as for beyonce, i do have to say that the beat is kinda PHAT, but she loses me when she starts the vocal's. Is it just me or does beyonce's track and vocals sound like an Michael Jackson outtake..something he would have done like 15 yrs ago...

u tell me ORG..

I just heard Beyonce's new song for the first time today and I don't know. They're both the same in that they are nothing special, especially for Janet. I actually think the songs would have been better if they had been Jay-Z or Nelly songs period. But since the question's asked, I'll give it to Janet. I like Call On Me's happy atmosphere of the song and it really does grow on you. Beyonce's Deja Vu starts off strong but then seems to drag on to me. Nah playa. Janet gets this.

My vote goes to Janet.

But seriously, Beyonce barely changed a single thing from Crazy In Love. It is the exact same formula, including Jay-Z. Her vocals towards the end are just strained - she should have gargled some honey and taken the day off before cutting that song. I don't think it's going to sell as well this time around.

I agree.. she may have some success but its a carbon copy of her past work. The only track "Call on Me" is similar to is "Dilema".. from kelly and Nelly and perhaps Janet's "Doesnt Really Matter"

Haven't heard Beyonce yet, but I don't need to.

Janet wins.

Yes, I'm prejudiced, but I fucking loathe all things Beyonce.

Of the two, the Janet one bores me most. Beyonce does make me want to nod my head but ultimately I think they're both poor debuts. There are so many new releases coming out late summer/fall someone may eclipse them both.

Janet for me.

I really can't stand Beyonce's new tune..... Janet and Nelly really sing well on the song.

Guys, pleeeze. Janet's song is boring as heck!!!

Beyonce got my vote. It's not a great song, JayZ to me ruins it alot. But the beat is hot and to me she sings better, she kind tearsit up (in a good way) at the end.

But in all fairness I don't think you can compare the two songs because one is a fast dance track and the other is a laid back kind of thing.

I hope Beyonce gets to record some real, organic R&B that matches her abilities before her fame is over (whenever that'll happen)-- the girl may have poor melisma control but she's far better than a whole slew of other singers in the genre today.

I can't really choose.

They are both extremly unimaginative, boring, formulaic, non-daring, and banal.

Beyonce. While I think the lyrics are cheesy and sound like a demo for Crazy in Love, I like the horns and the old school feel of it. Jay-Z doesn't need to be on the song at all, and actually ruins it to me.

The Janet song on the other hand. Ugh ... she's trying to sing ....again. Songs where she is trying to actually sing (as in actually trying to hold notes and such) all the way through the song have always been inferior (please refer to that gawd awful song from the Nutty Professor soundtrack). And add to that Nelly trying to sing...again. Um... just no.

Beyoncé, if anything.....for the live instrumentation alone.

Janet's song is cute, but Ashanti & Ciara could've EASILY sang that & it would not make any difference. I know it can be said that neither have any more vocal talent than the other but still.... lol lol lol What happened to the Janet that was once cutting edge & set the trends? She sounds like everyone else, THE ONLY difference is seniority. I don't even know what the hell she is saying in those whispers, Nelly makes the song anyway. cool One positive thing is that its a nice to play as you sleep. biggrin

I haven't heard either song yet. I like some of Janet's pass work, especially the album Janet, but the girl has one weak voice neutral Her voice is probably just a little better than Latoya's..Beyonce on the other hand has got a good voice, she just doesn't always sing the songs that suit her voice.

Just heard Janet's song. Like her part and Nelly's part but keyboard and rhythm parts are annoying.
This track needs Jimmy and Terry.
