You know how we had about a million "Confessions" stickies? Maybe we could start some for the new Janet album. Just a thought.

As I was saying, the instrumentation reminds me of "Doesn't Really Matter". It's decent and I bet it becomes a hit. However, it doesn't completely blow me away like Janet can do. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

so anyway... i LOVE this song! thanks to VD...er, i mean VC ...for hipping me to the song! I think it had more to do with the sharing aspect of what was going on, rather than the fact that it's about Janet. I say let's try to get a Janet sticky.

Someone (maybe VC, in particular) refresh my memory: Who produced this cut and who else, besides Jam & Lewis, can we expect Janet to be working with, if other producers have even been announced yet, that is?

L-Roc produced this cut for So So Def. Janet has cut tracks with Kanye West, Dr. Dre, those Swedish dudes who produced All Nite, and a few other producers whose names escape me at the moment. How much of this will end up on the final album is anyone's guess, though.

Jam & Lewis are the producers I am actually least interested in. They tend to water down everything she does and they have lost their edge, what with Jessica's Boots and all. What would Island Life have sounded like if they hadn't modified the Storch production after it was cut? The drum programming on Come On Get Up was another loss.

Kanye's skilled for what he is, at least, and for a song so blatantly sample-based, "All Nite" wasn't bad at all. So I've still got my hopes somewhat up.

But "Control" through "Velvet Rope" were so tight and she hadn't branched out at that point. Losing Rene, Tina and the exclusively Jam & Lewis production team I think really fucked with her.

As I was saying to sassy via orgnote, it's a catch 22. People want Janet to do something different, and if she does, they want her to be typical Janet again. If she does typical Janet, then they want her to be different. I don't think she can win on that. But I DO think that Jam & Lewis are pretty much played out as producers. They can do so much better, and they simply aren't. It is to her detriment at this point if she does not try something new. As for Tina and Rene, they can have each other. I don't think Tina's current choreography is anything special. Gil's is improving.

Plus, I don't see how this song has anything to do with Control. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Well, remember when (YOU KNOW WHO's NAME WAS HERE) sampled snippets of her older tracks on (HER 2005 DISCO-THEMED ALBUM)? That will be happening here e.g. the Nasty keyboard. As Janet has said, it was never supposed to be Control, just reference music and styles that were popular when she was growing up. So you get a snippet of Tell Me If You Still Care on the bridge here.
