Control: 5/5 stars. Perfection, even with "HDKIA".
Rhythm Nation 1814: 4.5/5 stars. Even better material, but it doesn't have quite the cohesiveness of its predecessor. janet.: 3.5/5 stars. Interlude hell and more of a great singles-vehicle than anything. The Velvet Rope: 3/5 stars. Jam and Lewis are starting to get derivative. All For You: 2/5 stars. Pre-fab, throwaway, even more derivative pop. "Trust A Try" is a high point, though. Damita Jo: 1.5/5 stars. There is decent stuff like "My Baby" and "Slolove", but otherwise... I'll rate Madge's albums later, maybe. EDIT: I've never heard Janet's actual first two records so I can't comment. [Edited 6/16/06 19:46pm]

When you use your body as a marketing tool, those things will happen. there it is right there I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

sallysassalot said: dear janet,
i've been a fan of yours since control. i practically cried when i couldn't get tickets to the rhythm nation tour and i did cry when i got to see the velvet rope show. i've enjoyed every record you've released...yes, janet, even those two. i think damita jo is one of your best, f everyone else! with all that said, and in all due respect, i need you to put some clothes on. its not cute anymore...its kinda sad. i feel like you think you have nothing else to offer outside of tits and ass. i don't know what the new song/record sounds like but i'm sure i'll love it. you're my favorite female pop star. i don't want you to change; you don't have to recreate yourself with each record. you've done this, though, and we all know you are sexy as hell. you know what else is sexy? a woman who knows she doesn't have to rely on her "assets" to make an entrance (so to speak). at 40 years old if all you have to offer is skin shots and fun songs, something went wrong somewhere. there's a lot shit going on in the world, j, and very little of it has to do with sex. tons of material is waiting for your interest. you must have something to say about the world we live in, about the world that has only become harder since rhythm nation 1814. please don't prove me wrong. wow sallysassalot that was perfect. Couldn't have said it any better. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

If she giggles and moans her way through this CD, then I really will be done with her. My fandom has been tested repeatedly since 2001, and this will be the project that either brings me back to her or sends me away permanently. I told a few people in the last couple of weeks that this CD may make me drop Janet if it's anything like All For You or Damita Jo. Kinda like a 3 strikes thing with me. It could also be a grand slam home run the way Emancipation of Mimi was for me and Mariah. I hope it's the latter I really do. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
