listening to "Songs In The Key Of Life" right now
"Wherever I go in the world,I always take a copy of 'Songs In The Key Of Life'.For me,it's the best album ever made and I'm always left in awe after listening to it"---Elton John,2004 How many of you agree with Elton? I sure do! 'Songs In The Key Of Life' is my favorite album.Nothing compares to it.We've had numerous threads devoted to this album in the past, but I felt like discussing it again.A few questions for you... ***There were four singles released from this project: "Sir Duke","I Wish","As" and "Another Star".Do you agree with those choices? If not, what singles would you have chosen instead? ***What are your favorite tracks? Least favorite tracks? ***Any other thoughts, memories and reviews of this masterpiece?

This is the album that made me a fan. I'm absolutely thrilled by it. It isn't my all-time favorite album, but it does stand as my favorite album of the 70s.
I think "As" is the greatest love song of all time, and "Knocks Me Off My Feet" isn't far behind! I agree with the single choices, although I think there could have been many more chosen, such as "Isn't She Lovely" and "Ordinary Pain". This album defines soul music for me. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Back in the day, radio was ALL OVER this album and even the non-singles got plenty of airplay.Songs like "Knocks Me Off My Feet" and "Isn't She Lovely" were played so much,I thought these were singles!

Hands down.....One of the ten best popular music albums of the 20th century.
EVERY SINGLE DAMN SONG ON THAT ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE OF PRODUCTION, SONGWRITING AND CONCEPT. Contains nothing formulamatic. It is pure songwriting. AS,.. JOY INSIDE MY TEARS,.... IF ITS MAGIC,..... VILLAGE GHETTOLAND... Also keep in mind Stevie plays half of all the instruments on the album,...bass, drums, guitar, keys, harmonica. This is a TITANIC album. Without argument,..it is the GREATEST R&B album EVER made. ....EVER. .

David, let me say that I agree "Song in the key of life" is one of the greatest album ever recorded, but I'm always torn between that and "Innervision" as far as favorite Stevie Wonder albums. I love the whole album, but my favorite cut is "Ordinary pain" especially the female responce, just brillant

Yeah,it's sometimes hard to pick a favorite Stevie Wonder album from this period.'Innervisions' is a masterpiece too. Both albums are Stevie at his greatest. I give "Innervisions" a slight nod over "Songs"...it doesn't get any better than 'Living for the City'.

For all the Beatles' knob-slobbing that goes around, I think way more attention could be directed to Stevie Wonder's universal songwriting.

I don't think Stevie gets any less love than do The Beatles here. The both deserve all the praise heaped upon them. Songs in the Key of Life is a fave Wonder album of mine, second only to Talking book.

A copy of this album should be in all songwriting and music production classes. Thanks for reminding me to give it a spin. I haven't listened to it in about a year.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I guess you haven't seen American Idol, which is nothing more than a tribute to Stevie's greatness. My Legacy

Seriously, they all sing his songs, and none of them do it as well. I think he's pretty much considered a legend by the public. He keeps a pretty low profile, though, for the most part. My Legacy
