Christina Milian Dropped from Def Jam "Mutually"

Well there have been a few rumours going around about the release of Christina Milian from Def Jam, and basically it came down to a "Mutual Parting" so they say. BUT a few sources say that the Labels "interest" in Rihanna led to the dropping of Christina Milian. S.O.S. was supposed to be recorded by Milian but she turned it down, pissing off the "higher ups" so they gave it to Rihanna even though they were still pushing Rihannas first album, so they dropped plans of a third single from Rihannas first CD, they recorded SOS and then threw a CD together really quick and got it out to capitalize on SOS. Mainly the attention that Rihanna was getting was part of the reason Milian decided to walk, the label has dropped plans of a follow up single to her hit "Say I" so expect the CD to drop off the charts in a few weeks, despite having a few better potiential singles.

Well i kinda feel bad for Milian, though RB females are so easy to find, i think Milian would be best doing the "acting thing". This is also the second time def jam has screwed here, she had a CD ready to go a few years ago and then the label pulled it and released it overseas where it did well, then put out her second CD here which everyone thought was her first. Also who can forget the fact of writing and vocals on a few of JLO's hits and not getting paid by Sony. And even with this new CD she has out, the release date was set and it was supposed to come out the same day as Rihanna BUT the label knowing it was losing Milian decided to pull it back not to take anything away from Rihannas CD, they put it out the following week with no promo for the date change.

Its time to put out your own CD, check out this Lady Http://www.miss-issa.com

She put the CD out herself two weeks ago through her website and so far has sold about 40,000, with NO promo, just word of mouth and a myspace site, wave goodbye to labels!

Rihanna's just been taking over the entertainment and gossip sections by storm, hasn't she?

Wasn't there rumor that she got on Beyonce's bad side recently?

The whole music industry is so screwy and scandalous. Christina has been around and STILL trying to come up for years now. I don't particulary like Rhianna's nasally vocals, but I guess it's really more about who -ya-know and who-likes-you more than ever now. I checked out Miss-Issa's site. The music seems to be secondary. Her looks are forefront. She looks like a playboy model. I'm not hatin...just statin'

Would have rather hear Christina on that SOS beat, but oh well.

I don't think either of them should be signed.

they're both lame. the only decent thing about SOS is that the music is from a good song.

I don't understand Christina's song, "Say I"

She sings, "I'mma make it happen, I'mma make a way"

Make WHAT happen? Make a way for WHAT to go WHERE? And How will saying, "Iiiiii" make any of this possible?

Please, does anybody know what the hell she's talking about?????

Yeah, she's really likeable. She's beautiful and she seems like a sweetheart. But her songs are stupid. The best thing she ever sang was the theme to Kim Possible. Now that was the jam!

Rhondab

they can both stay signed....just sign some real singers as well.

In the 80's there were plenty of non-singers including Madonna (sorry David) BUT you had Whitney as well, so there was a balance.

She turned a lot of people off acting soo cocky. She went everywhere saying this was her year, and her time to blow up. For someone on the comeup that irked a lot of people including me. I think considering her string of flop she should be ever so humble.

She started to grow on me. I hated Dip It Low but one of her songs with Joe Budden's got me and after hearing/seeing her in a few interviews I thought she wasn't so bad. She's not someone who's really on my radar but I didn't wish her dead either. I wondered if her second single would be stronger than the Iiii song but now we may never know. I know people who worked with Rhianna and she still registers a strong zero for me. Oh well. That's the music biz.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
