New Guilty Pleasure! Let me preface this by saying that there is a lot of music that I have bought but haven't gotten around to listening to yet. Nevertheless, I have nearly my entire collection on my iPod and have created playlists of singles for every year from 1964-2006, plus decade lists with the same songs. I was listening to the 00s playlist on shuffle when a single from an album I hadn't listened to yet came on. It went right for the jugular and I instantly loved it.
The song: "Needy Girl" The artist: Chromeo The album was released in 2004, but this song sounds like it comes straight out of the funk-laced early 80s! I just saw the video today, and it's definitely worthy of the "guilty" moniker of "guilty pleasure." You can watch the video at allmusic by scrolling to the bottom! Oh, crap. I forgot to mention that I listened to this when I first read the thread. I like the album. It's a lot of fun. I can't put my finger on what exactly it reminds me of, but I like it. Maybe it's The System? Good stuff. Nothing guilty about it!  | |
