ROLLINGSTONE: So, some random questions: What do you think when you see yourself on TV after the fact?

Furtado: It's hard to watch. Supposedly, my greatest performance is when I worked with an aboriginal vocal group from Saskatchewan. And I did it on the Juno Awards in Canada, and I did a rendition of my song "Powerless" with them. It was like a big medley with all these extras carrying signs, and it was really cool. And I still haven't watched it because I don't want to ruin the vision of it in my mind. With SNL, maybe in a couple of weeks, maybe in a couple of months I'll have the courage to watch it. Because when you do watch yourself that's when you become better as a performer. I'm sure all the greats, especially like the Beyonces of the world, watch themselves to get that perfection going. I'm working with the same choreographer that she works with. This whole choreography thing is new to me. I always loved dancing but I was a little shy about it before. Now I'm just loving it.

yeah it wasn't great. she is not a natural mover. also there were way too many people on stage in the background. kinda messy looking but i thought she sounded pretty good.

I think I saw her on that dance contest show, and it was pretty bad too...They're just both really awful rappers (though I like other things about each of them).

I just watched it and the performance sucks. Nelly needs more dance lessons for real plus she looks kinda uncomfortable singing this IMO. I love the song though.

how does she go from singing... "im like a bird" to "promiscuous".... two totally different styles of music.... she is just doing hip hop cause thats whats in now... if rock or dance was in.. thats the kind of music she would be doing now.... I CANT WAIT UNTIL HIP HOP gets played out and a new era of music comes in.... i getting tired of it... its being so overly used... its like you cant even appriciate it anymore... cause thats what everyone is trying to do... i remember during 96-99... when you would barely see rap videos on MTV.... and you definitly would NOT see it on VH1...

The 2nd SNL performance of the night, "Maneater," was 10 times worse. Hope someone uploads that shit. So bad it was funny.

The problem is that "Turn Off the Lights" wasn't like "I'm Like A Bird", though. It wasn't just about getting commerical. And frankly, it's not just about hip-hop but it's moving more toward pop, which is kind of what "Promicous" is due to her vocals. Hip-hop is getting played due to the fact that people now have more choice with downloads and I would even suggest satelite radio (terstisal radio is so damn boring and predictable).

Nelly seemed more interesting back before "I'm like a bird" when she was doing trip hop.

But whatever she was doing on SNL was just dreadful.

Well duh. It's a track that is completely based on heavy use of effects, programming, dynamics processing and editing - of course that kind of material never sounds that good live.

Rule number one, never even attempt to go 100% live with that kind of material. The same goes for all types of electronic music, not just the pop end of it.

Musical snob = doesn't share your taste in music

Her music can be okay. It's her voice that doesn't appeal to me.

People judge without listening to the album...that sickens me! If it was some shit a rapper did, you all would be raving about!!
