to my knowledge, this is the second list to claim its the strongest album in the (at least) last 20 years.
I'd have to agree. It would be in my top 10, perhaps top 5

I'd have to agree. It would be in my top 10, perhaps top 5 There are way too many current albums on this list. I always think that there needs to be a moratorium on albums released during the past 10 years for these lists, because current works are always going to get more votes than older ones that some people might be unfamiliar with. Time always lets you know if something is a classic. Two years ago people were going apeshit over that Outkast record and now it's like, "meh". [Edited 5/31/06 15:48pm]

I'm really glad to see Joy Division high on that list. They ABSOLUTELY deserved that. Both of their studio albums are perfect. Surprisingly is that Frank Zappa is here! very positive!

Surprisingly is that Frank Zappa is here! very positive! Right! I cannot hate this list too much because there are some really good choices that outweigh the really bad/lame ones.

hehe Moon Safari - a favorite of mine. Who cares, really? These lists are a dime a dozen. It'll please some, piss others off. Now watch me read it more thoroughly and get all pissed.

I agree on Damien Rice being put on there.. thats one of the most sad, beautiful albums ive ever heard.

That's the most narrow minded piece of list I've ever seen. Complete nonesense. [Edited 5/31/06 15:57pm]

Problem is, I'm not in the mood as often as I once was. I still love Kid A, but I've never loved OK Computer or The Bends as much as others.

This list is better than the NME one recently (thatwas only british albums, though)
But still, is Franz Ferdinand & Arctic Monkeys really that much better than Physical Graffiti? My Legacy

horrible list.
Jeff Buckley at #7 of all time? Come on, let's keep this within the realm of reason. He had a great voice, but #7 is just absurd. Coldplay at #25 is purely idiotic. Kate's "The Kick Inside" would never be regarded by anyeone as her best album. The Libertines, at #28? Bwaaaa-ha-ha-ha. That says everything you need to know about this list. [Although, I would certainly vote OK Computer at the top of my list as well.]

I LOVE Moon Safari. I haven't even read the list yet though. but I actually almost voted in this poll, because I heard about it on the radio here in Holland, but then I figured I couldn't even think of ONE definitive album. Abbey Road popped into my head for a second, and then well, I just gave up because it's too hard a decision and it hurt my brain. Because, come on, there IS no one album that can be considered the best. Jeebus! Anyway, this is a DUTCH poll remember, so this is just a fraction of the world's population voting in this. Im surprised to see that Cream's 'Disraeli Gears' is not on that list. "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

Like I said, Dutch list. It would be interesting if many different countries all did similar lists, so we could see how music tastes differ from country to country. You weren't upset in the least that there was no Maze? Frankie Beverly, have you no faith in yourself? no doubt Maze would make one or two appearances in my personal Top 100 however I'm also well aware that Maze' audience and their impact and popularity are nowhere big enough to ever put them into such a list. the one above is obviously very much Rock biased and very well... white, like CinisterCee already noticed up above Nostalgia just ain't what it used to be

I'm a Maze fan and as much success as they found on the soul/R&B charts, they never crossed over to pop success. It's an oddity really. But as Val said, it's a Dutch list. I'm guessing Maze didn't make many waves in Dutcherland.
