Tarkan (Turkey)
Ofra Haza (Israel)
Amina Annabi (Tunis)
Los Amigos Invisibles (Venezuela)

Those are some of my personal favorites. It is so nice to breakaway from what mainstream radio WANTS you to hear! Happy hunting....

Knowing the kind of music you like, I would recommend these:

Aterciopelados / Andrea Echeverri / Hector Buitrago (Colombia)
Café Tacuba (Mexico)
Icaro Azul (Puerto Rico)
Juana Molina (Argentina)

All excellent.

'If I Die, I Die' is a classic. Sorry, I don't know much about Ireland except for the usual suspects. South of the border is more my thing.

You're having fun with me again, right?

Seriously, I posted a list of Latin bands earlier because you asked for music from Mexico or South America.

Old Dead Can Dance is great. Their last few albums were too worldbeat/ethnic for me.

It's hard to figure out what you know and and what you don't. I thought Dead Can Dance was too obvious to mention.
