Actually, I prefer the teenage MJ. There are some late J5/early Jacksons ballads that Michael sings so beautifully. One song I can think of as an example is "All I Do Is Think Of You". Beautiful. Another song (although it was more adult Michael) is "Time Waits For No One".

When I talk about the "very young MJ" I mean the teenage MJ too. MJ age 13 to 19 sounded so beautiful, that songs like; You've got a Friend, Girls don't take Your Love from Me,I wanna be where You are, Touch, Music and Me, Cinderella etc made my heart ache.

Well, not that I actually CRY when listening to these people (well, maybe once or twice), but....

Joni Micthell

Meshell Ndegeocello

Jeff Buckley

Al Green

Freddie Mercury

Otis Redding

Marvin Gaye

Prince

but this is mostly because of a particular song that they do.

Well, I don't know about tears, but here are the singers I dig the most:

Lalah Hathaway
Harriet Wheeler (The Sundays)
Karin Parris (the Innocence Mission)

TTD/Sananda Maitreya
Whitney Houston (in her prime)
Benita Washington
BeBe Winans

Of course, I just remembered a few more...

Aretha
Patti Labelle
Natalie Merchant
Norah Jones
