I love The Whispers.I think the first song I ever heard by them was "Olivia (Lost And Turned Out)" in 1978,then "Let's Go All The Way"(1978) and "And The Beat Goes On"(1979).They spent the entire 80s' decade with one hit song after another.They had their best songs when they allowed Leon Sylvers to handle the producing.He gave them all types of killer jams.Later,they had a huge hit with the LA and Babyface- produced "Rock Steady"(1987).Other favs...

***"And The Beat Goes On"(1979)---probably my favorite Whispers song ever!! You still hear this one alot on Old School radio stations.I prefer the long album version.At over 8 minutes,the beat really does goes on...and on...lol
***"This Kinda Lovin"(1981)---another killer groove

***"Say Yes"(1982)---by this time,their ballads were doing as well as their uptempo jams.This is one of their most seductive.

***"Keep On Lovin Me"(1983)---Here's a funny story about this song.When PRINCE heard this song on the radio,he assumed that it was a Jam and Lewis production!! This was at a time when he was uncomfortable with his "employees" working with other acts.If you listen to the song,it does resemble the "Minneapolis Sound" a little bit.
***"Rock Steady"(1987)---Remember this jam from the summer of '87? This was a kickass groove,courtesy of LA Reid and Babyface,who would soon become the hottest producers in the music biz.

Am I the only one who misses the Solar Records days? Remember Shalamar,Lakeside and Carrie Lucas? That was a kickass record label!

These brothers are SMOOTH. I like them...those twins brohers are something else. An overlooked album by them is MORE OF THE NIGHT released in 1990. This is a must album if you want something nice playing while you and your lady are kicking it on a romantic evening/night. The title track is vintage Whispers and "Want To Make It Good To You" is a stellar track as well. The whole thing is good actually. Yes, they're a great group.

Smooth soul out of LA. Always good for a nice slow jam.

Nope.those were Soulfful Productions.Leon Sylvers is a Badd Ass.He still is Working with Teddy Riley .The Whispers themselves say they Miss the old way of Recording the Music&Feeling.Leon was Rumored to be working with MJ on "Invincible" but It didn't make the cut.Dick Griffey helped make alot of Careers out of that Building.He went into Death Row Records&Still hasn't gotten all of His Full Pay for that.I Read a Cool Interview with Dick Griffey in XXL Magazine a Few Years Back.He said Babyface was really shy 20 Years back.He got Him out of that.BTW Babyface owns that Building Now.that is His Brandon way Recording Spot where He does His Music.Leon Sylvers did Great stuff with The whispers,Shalamar,Dynasty remember them? they were the Cult Funk band of the time.Lakeside Albums oh yes.Solar was a tight Label.Midnight Star,etc..
