Hold up. I've just realised that High Civilization is missing from this list. whofarted
And yet I've already seen it advertised along with the others included in the first batch. hmm

This uncertainty is hurting my little brain. neutral

Yeah, and wheres "e.s.p"? I own "esp" "one" "high civilisation" and "size isn'tm everything". They are good AOR albums, with the bee gees pop touch.

"high civilisation" feels like an epic. All the songs are lush, long, and its a complex album. It reminds me of a yes album like "union" actually (which was released in 1991). "union" is an odd album (and one of my all time favs). U should try it.

"high civilisation" also is alot darker in tone to the straightforward sounding "one" album.

I gave the track "dimensions" to a hiphop head, and he loved it. Its almost newjack, but its a dark, moody song, as is "human sacrifice", which is the darkest song i have ever heard the bgee's sing.

I love "when he's gone", awesome track.

Anyway, u may remember me liking those 4 albums, and i still do. "e.s.p" is very dated, but very unique production wise. Layers upon layers of keyboards etc.... wonderful.

Those 4 albums are supurbly produced. Though "one", as i said, is the more accessible "one" of the bunch. From that, "bodyguard" and "its my neighbopurhood" along with the sad "wish u were here", are my favs

I do remember talking about those albums with you before. smile

E.S.P. is okay, I particularly like the first half (altho' I'm not keen on track 4), the rest is pretty average to me.
One is a lot healthier, only a couple of tracks I don't care for on that album. The first three songs are pop at its very best
High Civilization... neutral I actually quite like a lot of the individual tracks but I don't think they add up to a great album. The title track is my fave.
Size Isn't Everything... biggrin Fucking brilliant songwriting and a late-career highlight. The follow up Still Waters was even better, imo.

t edit.

You know, I do actually remember liking the live album. I borrowed a vinyl copy years and years ago. Late 80s I think it was. I must have been about 13 or 14. At the time of its release (1977) it was considered to be one of the most well recorded live albums ever issued. I sincerely hope it does get a re-release as I'd love to hear it again.

omfg

I had to Google the album just to check that you weren't talking about 'Giving Up The Ghost'. You were! omg

I think that's my favourite on 'E.S.P.'. nod

Horses for courses, though. smile

And all these years I've had 'One', I've still never listened to it properly. I should give it a spin. nod

I like Robin's vocal and some of the programming but I just find it quite jarring when sat alongside the other tracks that make up the first half.
Maybe it's because it's situated between two ballads.
Still, it's better than anything on the second half. lol

You should listen to One again. I consider it their best album of the 80s. nod

True. lol Which is the one with Barry 'rapping' on? The one that's a rehash of 'You Should Be Dancing'? Or am I mixing it up with another album? Bloody awful. lol

And thanks for the tip re: 'One'. thumbs up! I might dig it out this weekend.

Angela is okay. That's quite a nice song and probably the best on the second half. Overnight ain't so bad, either.

Barry rapping? lol You're thinking of This Is Your Life. Decadance was the You Should Be Dancing remake on Size. They're both dreadful. lol

I will be buying 'Children Of The World' and 'Spirits Having Flown'.Such a shame that 'Main Course' isn't being remastered right now,but I guess we'll just have to wait a little longer.

I replaced Main Course and Living Eyes last year with the Japanese reissues (not remastered) and I'm getting fed up with all those reissues/remasters. I just want one Final Edition hrmph

I used to like a lot Living Eyes! In those years that everybody just wanted to forget the bee gees.

There's a much better song called The Shape Of Things To Come which they should've replaced TIYL with. Crazy For Your Love was another horror, too. I wasn't surprised when it flopped as a single. lol

Just found this:

According to Rhino the first re-releases will be June 6th. First they are planning to reissue some of the most recent CDs in the original form to keep this material available. Next to that, Rhino is planning to reissue Bee Gees albums with extra material starting with Bee Gees First and then moving on from there.

Thing is, I can't say for definate if the sound quality is improved or not as I haven't bought them.
But when I was last in town I went to check them out and they appear to be the same editions as available before.
The sleeves are exactly the same. No additional lyrics, info, anything... neutral
